Sell out to Christ and your desires should change. All we wanted was to win souls and take care for the poor. Yes we spend on ourselves but we also are careful to hear Him on our purchases. We started 'going to church' after about six months of soul winning only to discover, to our amazement, that the 'pastor', co called, was materialism mad! All about things.

So nothing wrong with prospering. Make sure that your heart is set on heaven. Dont let the things of this world become entrapments.

Jesus said 'my sheep hear My voice and I know them and they follow Me.'

Here, lemme fix this for ya!

There, a good post without having to condemn yet another Pastor.

The lower class in the United states would be considered upper class in most parts of the world. So prosperity is in the eye of the beholder.

What some think is prosperity is an illusion.
They have a lot of stuff that they owe a lot of money on.
In reality, their prosperity is debt.
I have never understand why Christians have so much debt.
I agree! Debt is bondage and burdensome. Few live within their means these days.

Amen...good one

Prosperity within itself is not a proof of God's favor. There are many people in the world getting prosperous by their own hand and they usually have some kind of sorrow with that way of getting prosperity. Then there is God that prospers us as He sees fit for our role here on earth and how that looks is up to Him.

Proverbs 10:22 (NASB)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it.

The Lord's prosperity always has a purpose - to establish His covenant!

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NASB)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] "But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenantwhich He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

I'll go with Paul on this one...

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
(Php 4:11-12)
2 Corinthians 11:23(b)-33 -

"I (Paul) have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again. Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea. I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not. I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm.

"Then, besides all this, I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches. Who is weak without my feeling that weakness? Who is led astray, and I do not burn with anger?

"If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am. God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who is worthy of eternal praise, knows I am not lying. When I was in Damascus, the governor under King Aretas kept guards at the city gates to catch me. I had to be lowered in a basket through a window in the city wall to escape from him."

...4:17 -

"For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!"

Dude! Paul! Such faith! IMHO THAT'S prosperity. Wow.

God would like all people to prosper in abundance, but in this world it is not possible, for some people take, and heap, unto themselves, although we can all prosper in abundance spiritually.

God only provides for our needs, food, clothing, and shelter, and good health, and spiritually, because as long as there is people in need, the saints have to help them, and there is always people in need.

The Bible says those that are rich,to distribute their money.

Having food,and clothing,be content.

Equality among the saints, where those that have abundance, had nothing left over, and those that had little, did not lack,in other words efficient for the person,or family.

The saints appear poor to the world, but yet they possess all things,to be given them in due time.

If any person has this world's goods, and does not help those in need, the love of God is not in them.

The early Church sold all they had,and distributed to the saints,as each person had need, and had all things in common, which means they shared all things.

Some people pray amiss, for they pray for other than their needs,to heap it upon their lusts.

Anyone who think that communism only works in theory and not in reality should look not to earthly government as an example, but to the early church. There was no dictator at the helm, but Jesus Christ held it all together.

Proof of Gods promises to those who worship him favor prosperity, since it is what the devil cannot be.

When you have more than you need, more than you could ever use, and more than you can appreciate, then you might be too darn prosperous.

Prosperity IS NOT ONLY about how much money/wealth one has..........just saying.

I'm thinking prosperity can be considered similar to pretty much anything else one puts BEFORE God. And that would make it wrong........even a sin to desire it.

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.

ergo........

The LOVE of prosperity would be the root of all evil?

Hmm.............maybe.

It's a catch 22 To trust in God means that He will provide or to to give our money means that He will provide. I think it's both because it's His money, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. But do we trust Him with our money?

If the love of money is the root of all evil. If we can change that to the love of prosperity is the root of all evil. Would the love of blessing be the root of all evil too?...not likely...too many scriptures talk about true prosperity and blessing in the scripture to get around extrapolating too much..IMO

It goes back to Job where His so called friends declared that if he was not rich then he was cursed. I wonder what the word of faith has to say about that?

No............UNLESS one places the receiving of blessings BEFORE God...........is not ANYTHING we value more than, or place BEFORE God an Idol? Hmm............

If one desires anything more than they desire God is that a good thing?
