We are called to support those who spread the gospel. It is a church function, not an individual one, unless of course someone feels led to do so.

So you dont think we should all share the gospel?

You see....you have no idea how I interact with people. You can only assume you do. Why would a believer think the worst of another person? I think I know why but you wouldn't get it if I told you.
God does use me because I am willing. I have courage. I tend to really get disgusted with those who claim Christ but do not make it their mission to spread the good news. Church is a social club just as the OP states.

2Timothy 4: 1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom: 2Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction. 3For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.…

its Amazing how this topic gets so complicated, being so simple and all, if we really want to be a part of the solution and not the problem then it seems to me all we need do is what the word tells to do (prov.3:5-6) (matt 6:33).
if we trust Him and yield ourselves to his will we need not be concerned with what, when and where, and who. He knows how to lead those being drawn, all we have to do is listen and the Spirit will guide and lead us, if we yield that is, if you feel compelled to lead others then do so... if its of the Father it will prosper and if not don't worry about it, the Fathers arm is not shortened that he cannot save.

Your beginning to sound like a mocker. Why does this subject bother you so much? Fear is not from the Lord. You mask your fear with snide comments as if I am purporting something ghastly! smh...............

Some might not be called to be a preacher,or prophet,or evangelist, but all saints are called to witness, and preach the Gospel of Christ, and the kingdom of God,for that is all saints duty as soldiers of Christ, which Jesus said all the saints will be witnesses unto Him,how can people think otherwise, for the Bible says the kingdom of God is within you,and you belong to the kingdom of God,so we have to relate that kingdom to other people, and tell them about Jesus, and His Gospel message, for that is our home, the kingdom of God,and God wants people to be there.

If you feel led to by the spirit, you should do so. Otherwise, it's just works and bondage. And probably a bad witness for Christ.

I guess I was just raised under old fashioned preaching. I was taught we are all called to spread the gospel, its why I went into ministry. I used to listen to Keith Green who sang a song "Jesus Commands us to Go". If you aren't lead by the spirit to share the gospel I would wonder why one would not feel called.

Yonah there is such a thing as not obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit. There are umpteen times that God wants people to open their mouths and talk about the hope in Jesus. They dont and they wont because they are afraid of losing a "friend" or they are afraid of the rejection and persecution that comes from it.

Everybody's heard about Jesus. What people haven't seen much of is Christians actually living the life that they they're trying to convert other people to.

Not all members of the body have the same function. Not all are called to evangelize. It's just not in the bible. We are called to edify each other.

Lord knows you cant keep your mouth shut on thsi site but I guess that is where you draw the line.. Online. Meanwhile, there are lost souls wondering around that need to hear what hope they have in Christ!
But by all means, continue to fight and argue with grace777 till the cows come home. God isnt pleased about that! Its your flesh you are feeding. Good on ya

I'm really sitting here trying to think the best of you. I think you have passion about the subject. My experience in life is different than yours and my relationship with Jesus is also different than yours. If your requirement and or expectation of me is for my experience with God to be like yours and for me to interact with the world based on your narrow view of scripture then it is probably best that we don't interact with each other....at least on this subject. You say I have a fear of it but the truth is that I don't allow people to bully me...religiously, emotionally or otherwise. And to be honest, you're kind of a bully.

I remember a few years ago now, at work I walked up to two work mates and for some reason one of them turned and said, "Have you EVER heard Brendan swear?" The other shook his head and said, "Nah I haven't." Only one of them at the time knew I was a Christian because when I first started he showed me a pornographic picture on his phone and I told him how God had helped me with that addiction but it was still a weakness. I was able to tell them why I didn't swear.

Another instance a couple years back I was chosen to go on a work trip with managers and general managers, after a days work we would all go to a bar in our hotel, it was expenses paid so they surely took advantage of that. The first night we all sat down and asked if I wanted a beer or a bourbon and I said, "no, thanks I don't drink." They all asked why, and I told them.
I find I don't have to go out of my way much to witness the gospel to people, especially those immediate around me. I pray that I'm bolder as I have a great sense of fear and rejection but God strengthens and usually gives the right words. I've even had a Muslim at work ask me to pray for them..amazing! None of this is to boast, for I am the least capable, slow of speech and of tongue..very much so. I have no strength of my own to rely on regarding evangelism. But opportunities are certainly there, we just need to take them as they arise. We may not see salvations on the spot, but seeds are certainly planted as we speak and they see our conduct.
