Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that
cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--
and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8
It is interesting how Scriptures fit together, the details adding up to a bigger picture that contributes a fuller measure to what we believe. It is thought provoking for me to ponder the fact that as far as I was concerned, I did not really believe that the Biblical God existed when I called upon Him in desperation to relieve me of the emotional pain I was in due to circumstances in my life. And yet I had been brought up to believe, and knew there was something, even though I had rejected the teachings of my youth while still young. I often characterize it as running from Him in rebellion and defiance, though of course I did not see it that way, then. Back then I was breaking free of the chains that bound me, throwing off antiquated traditions, being open minded, venturing into the great unknown, and being caught up in the exciting cultural movements of my time. Oy. Where is that face palm? I eventually discovered that the freedom I had sought was a snare that only the God I was running from could free me of. Life can be funny like that Thank you God, for all Your wonderful gifts!
