I don't know. I seem to remember Gibson kinda went crazy after the first one. Not sure he should go there again.

That's what I thought about the Ten Commandments...Moses gets the Law, gives the Law, people break the Law...done deal. :)

I just had someone, an atheist, say to me... No offense, but I don't see how any Christian can support Gibson.

How would you respond?

Seems I recall a scandal about Mel Gibson making some anti-semitic comments

"Why do you support him then?"

(I love their double standards. Like "You have to have what I consider morals, but don't you expect me to have any morals at all. And you're also not allow to expect me not to either.")

I posted this link on facebook and here's how the conversation between this atheist friend and I went:

Her:
No offense, but how can any 'Christian' support this guy? I don't care what he is writing or directing.

Me:
None taken. =) However, I would need to know what it is you're referring to, to answer your question.

Her:
I mean Mel. His racist rants and such? Do you remember? And I'm not hating on him, I just don't see how supporting him is a very Godly thing to do? But I don't follow Godly things, you know this... I'm not hating on Christians either. lol

Me:
LOL... Oh, I understand. =D ...I don't know the entire story. I only know what the media told us, and we both know that we can't always trust the media. I'm one of those that try not to judge to quickly without knowing both sides of the story, even with those in my personal every day life. I do know that Mel said something like, "The Jews killed Jesus". Well, technically, that's true. Peter, who was a Jew, even said this in Acts 2:38, "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah". He's pointing out all of Israel (Jews) as the ones who crucified Him. Also, it was the Jewish leaders, the Pharisee, that had Him arrested to be tried and crucified. They were misleading God's people and they didn't like Jesus pointing this fact out. So, they wanted to get rid of Him. However, just because the Jews were the ones who cried out for His death and it was the Romans who carried out the punishment, doesn't mean that the rest of us are not guilty. We became separated from God and Jesus offered Himself as our sacrifice so that we can have direct access to Him again and have an intimate personal relationship with Him. I'm not trying to sound preachy, I'm just pointing out that Mel is partially correct. Now, if he's said any more then what I've mentioned, that I don't know. :)

Her:
Well. I have to thank you for that explanation!! But I was talking about his girlfriend! The recorded phone conversation...and the alleged physical abuse. He sounds like a LUNATIC! Super scary.

I'd ask, "Do you know him personally?"
Otherwise their source seems similar to the National Enquirer.

Yay! Let's hope it's accurate.
this is the only thing i would care about -- whoever Gibson is as a person, or what his opinions are, or his personal virtues or flaws, does not matter one whit when you are watching the passion or potentially this new movie. all i want to know is,

  • is this an accurate representation or is it misleading
  • is this faithful to the scripture or does it add or take away from the truth

seems like it's very probable the apostle Peter made some anti-Gentile comments in his life.

What he said was that jews were responsible for all the wars. It was during a drunken tirade directed at an LAPD cop who was in the process of arresting him for either being drunk in public or DUI (I forget which). He published a long public apology and made an apology video addressed to jews afterwards.
