There is a cry within the believer. We see elijah and the power, and the miracles. The decisiveness.
We see elisha, who would not leave the side of elijah, for fear of the mantle eluding him.

We see Elisha order his servant "take my rod,and lay it next to the child, and the child will recover. NOTHING HAPPENED. So,that was it right? no miracle.

No sir. He went to the child, lay on top of the body, and the child came back to life.

Elisha did twice what Elijah did.

Now ff to Jesus walking amongst us. WHO DID HE INVOKE? Elijah. The fore runner.

Now this same Jesus, our forerunner, gave us the promise of Elijah. "Greater works than theses will you do"

Amazing. God invokes man.
Why?

It is heaven's protocol.

Jesus handed us the power. We pray, sometimes we get results, but mostly no. Nothing.

So,where do we go from here?

We go higher. We admit the problem is us. We look to heaven for answers.

But we let the hunger intensify. In fact we stoke those flames. Just a little spark can start a massive fire.

I want more power. I want want the power of heaven like elisha had. I say with Paul,I will be behind on no gift.

Why are we against this????

Now note ,it was the PETITION of the mother. That was the groundwork for the miracle.

She knew the protocol.

How you PETITION, determines your success.

Believe in what Christ has already done and we become a new creation in Him - created in righteousness and holiness. Eph 4:22-23

The whole true Christian life is by grace through faith in Christ alone. It is a wonderful adventure in growing to know Him and His heart of love and grace towards us.

The Lord has done great things for us and we rejoice in His salvation! When we "believe" in Christ - His power is released to the world around us to effect a change and to demonstrate the kingdom of God.

Truthfully I am content with what God offers me. I would feel uneasy with the power to move mountains if it was not accompanied with a wisdom to match. I prefer the plea for wisdom. And my hunger is simply for a closer and closer relationship with God and His will to be done.

Do you really want that kind of power?

Jesus will give it to you. But with it comes a lot of responsibility.

The closer you walk with God the more Satan will attack you. And not only you but also your family!

Be careful for what you pray for because God just might answer your prayer in a way you will not like.

Look at Paul, he answered the call of God and see how the World treated him.

Good post.

We have the same Kratos power that raised Jesus from the dead, in us. And we have the same Holy Ghost and power that Jesus had. But it's what we do about it that counts. The Bible tells us to,
Stir up the gift, [To fan afresh as it's capable of dying out through lack of use].
Give ourselves wholly to the gifts, that the people will see we are making progress.
Sanctify ourselves to be used by God for His special purposes.

One man had the right idea, he said every time he felt the Anointing getting weaker, he would do more praying and fasting.
Then the Anointing got stronger again.

I'd rather have holiness and righteousness than power.

You cannot get anymore righteous then you are, Because you are the righteousness of God.
And Holiness will produce the power of God that you have.
You have the power of God, as every Christian has a calling to some kind of Ministry, and with that Ministry, comes a gifting to fulfil that Ministry.

We are all just vessels for Him to use with His power when He chooses. It is never ours.

No, we are not the righteousness of GOD. Christ is. He's proven his walk. We have yet to prove ours.

We either receive by grace through faith Christ's gift of righteousness alone or we try to establish our own. One is the true gospel of Christ - the later is NOT the gospel.

Romans 5:17 (NASB)

[SUP]17 [/SUP] For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

I would imagine they told Elisha "you are following man"

"you should center on God,not man"

What about all the others that were competing with Elisha for that mantle?

No,there was nobody,only Elisha.

What made the difference?

It was "calling". The others were not called.

We have His power in earthern vessels. We just don't use it. Well I don't use it enough for sure.
We pray now with church that God will use us. First He had to deal with the character traits. I believe now is the time to step out. So many are doing it already. Muslims get healed on the Streets here and get to know Jesus. His power is to convince the ones who don't know Him. It's not about power only, some fix too much on it, but I want that too. I want to see Holland saved.

Hi popeye.
I understand you deeply with your op. Deeply.
I hunger and thirst for righteousness inside of me.
I desire that power that will route all of the enemies in me that rebel against God - the selfishness, the resentments, the need to feel others should show me some respect and common decency. These are all my own will - not His. These are all self seeking, NOT desiring His will.

I tried so hard for so many years to be good. But I had all these enemies of God within me. I had received His Spirit and I KNEW, because He showed me, that these awful things were in me still. I desperately wanted mastery over them. So I tried harder, but they would rise up and I would fall to them.

And as He led me, it seemed to get worse and worse. He showed me so many awful things in me, including my motivation for wanting to be good. It was so I could feel better about myself. That's pride.

As it got worse and worse, I tried harder, but it was disgusting to me because who the hell cares if I am good outside when inside my enemies are still winning?

The battle with our flesh (at least for me) was the biggest battle I have faced. I repeated a cycle for so many years of try harder - fail - depression - try harder - fail - depression. When I saw that I could not win it, then He was able to work.

He had to get me so low and distrustful of my ability that I refused to even try anymore All I could pray for the longest time was that He look on my misery and have mercy on me because my enemies were too strong for me.

I don't know why He had to bring me so low before He could raise me up but it wasn't until I gave up and just begged for mercy and help with my enemies that He began to hear and answer me.

I think we don't want to admit there is no help for us but that we die to all of our desires because we need to become convinced there is no fixing it but death. A kernel of wheat has to die and fall into the ground before it can bring forth a harvest.

He won't give us our hearts desire to be good until we are humble enough to be good. Our will and His can't both win. We have to give up ours.

Paul says it's good to desire the blessing of spiritual gifts. However, a better way is love.

It's sounds too much like a whiny kid who opens his present and tosses it aside demanding he wants MORE!

Instead of learning how to use the spiritual gifts God has already given them.

Unanswered prayers are not due to a lack of power because God supplies the power needed.

Most often prayers are made from selfish desires and God has said in the Bible that He wasn't answering them. I will post Bible verse shortly.

I don't strive for more power, I pray for godly wisdom to use the power and gifts God has already given me.

*You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. *Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. *Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? - James 4:3-5 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James4:3-5&version=NIV

So if your prayers are not in lined with God's will they will not be answered.

God hears the humble and rejects the proud.

(note: general statement, not attack on op...just encouraging people to make sure their prayers align with God's will.)

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[SUP][a][/SUP] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved

Jesus said that John the Baptist was Elijah returned.

Matthew 17:

10. And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

11. And Jesus answered and said unto them,
Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

12. But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

13. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
