Do you have they Holy Spirit with you? What evidence do you have that makes you believe you have the Holy Spirit, if you do believe that?

If one is a Christian he or she has the Holy Spirit.

Remember a Christian is a Child of God.

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is a child of God. This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not live uprightly and does not love his brother is not from God” New Jerusalem bible

Yes I am a Christian, and the way I know that is true, is that the Holy Spirit has given me the grace to keep God’s Word/Commandments. I have answered your question, not tell me how you know that you are a Christian.

I AM a Christian! :)

I know this for a certainty by the close relationship I have with God. He responds. He answers my prayers. And He has shown me the place He has prepared for me, so I also know He will come again for me, so that I may be where He is.

God also disciplines me, bringing scriptures to mind for correction by His Holy Spirit ... I am not illegitimate. :)

So your identity is tied up in what you do? Good luck down that road of condemnation and guilt. Instead you might want to look to Jesus as your rest and see the grace bestowed upon you. Your ability to keep His commands is not why you are assured in your salvation, that is found in Christ. :)

The holy spirit didn't seem to permanently dwell in the disciples, rather, it seemed to come and go as needed.

I say that Jesus Christ is Lord, that makes me a Christian.

How do I know I am a Christian? I walk, talk, act, think and do things different than before. I no longer try to lead myself but allow God to lead me. Without the Holy Spirit none of that would have ever changed. No I am not perfect but by the blood of Christ i am a new creation.

I am a Christian.

And I don't see how proving that on this thread can benefit anyone.

Obviously, it wasn't a question for you, Mr. Johnlove, to know if we think we're Christians or not because, for one, this is a Christian site. So, I'm inclined to believe that the reason for starting this thread was to know if we're wrong, somehow, in our faith and walk in Christ?

That's not very Christian ;)

I could be wrong though. For all I know, you sincerely just wanted to know for whatever reason. :)

MATT 7: 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Corinthians.

PS: Not a license to sin, but just making a point. They were called saints, yet in all manner of sin.

I understand
what you are saying though, but those actions are a result of the tree, so the identity is found in the root and not the fruit.

And these are the fruits of the Spirit ... they are evidence of the presence of God's Holy Spirit.

Absolutely! :D But if someone isn't showing this fruit one doesn't assume they are bastards. Maybe they are in a process of sanctification, yes?

Love. That's what the difference is. Do we love one another. No demon loves the brethren.

Nods ... I hear you ...

We all slip up ... but one who is stagnant and not progressively bearing better fruits has likely never known God at all.
