Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Notice from the commandment that even the stranger/Gentile/non-Jew was to remember the Sabbath also.
EPHES. 2 [11] Wherefore remember, that ye being IN TIME PAST GENTILES in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; [12] That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and STRANGERS FROM THE COVENANTS OF PROMISE, having no hope, and without God in the world: [13] BUT NOW IN CHRIST JESUS ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. [14] For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

It was for Israel only. Was. We were once strangers from Gods covenants of promise, having no hope. BUT NOW in Christ, should we take hold of those covenants, we have hope

ISAIAH 56 [6] Also the sons of THE STRANGER, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one THAT KEEPETH THE SABBATH from polluting it, and TAKETH HOLD OF MY COVENANT; [7] EVEN THEM WILL I BRING TO MY HOLY MOUNTAIN, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; FOR MINE HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED AN HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLE.

Even them (us gentile strangers mentioned in Ephes.2) will He bring to His holy mountain, if we should take hold of His sabbath covenant. Jesus will bring us to the 1000yr period of rest. His house will be a house of prayer for ALL people....Not just the house of Israel

ISAIAH 14 [1] For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet CHOOSE ISRAEL, AND SET THEM IN THEIR OWN LAND: AND THE STRANGERS SHALL BE JOINED WITH THEM, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. [2] And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. [3] And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, [4] That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! [5] The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers. [6] He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. [7] THE WHOLE EARTH IS AT REST, AND IS QUIET: THEY BREAK FORTH INTO SINGING.

And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God. Exodus 31:18 (ESV2011)

Thirty six pages here, and numerous threads on this subject have revealed nothing new to me, nor anyone commenting here. I will make a peace offering. When the next Sabbath begins, everyone stop and celebrate it, exactly as God told us to celebrate it. You have about 24 hours to find out what the scripture says (don't take anyone's word for it, read the scripture). Then immediately following the end of the Sabbath, (the next day), join me in worshiping (celebrating) the Savior who arose from the grave so that I could know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I have eternal life in Him.

Don't bother to reply, I'm to old and set in my ways to argue with you.

It wasn't Yeshua either, but enjoy your legalism. It doesn't save either.
I dont uderstand why people think legalism is a bad thing. I cant imagine standing before Christ saying save me Lord, im an illegalist, i did nothing you commanded me to do. Good luck with that.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:But the seventh day
[is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11 (KJV)
The first 4 commandments are to love God,and the other are to love people, but Jesus took away the sabbath days, and it is a spirutal sabbath,a spiritual rest,by the Holy Spirit, which is loving God,by receiving His Spirit, and that spiritual rest.

Have you not heard, have you not read the new law is Love, :) because God loves us and loved us first.

Against such there is no law. Love will set your free that law will bind you where would you rather be?

I pray the first rather than the latter!

Absolutely!! Before they believed, there were lots of rules and laws but when they believed and trusted in my love the rules and laws were made obsolete.

so once your children believe in you, they can play in the street, run with a knife, etc.? You see that does not make sense. Wake up.

wouldn't you rather have children who did chores and helped around the house because they love you and do these things from their hearts . . ?

-- instead of children who do their chores and obey your commands because they are afraid of being grounded, or because they want to 'butter you up' to get whatever it is they covet for a holiday gift??

wouldn't you rather have a child who did not need rules, than one who you had to give commands to all the time, and strictly enforce them with punishments and rewards?

and what has the Lord made us!

mike, have you ever read Machiavelli?
love is a far better motivator than fear. fear is a second choice. an inferior choice.

what is the purpose of the law, mike?
what does scripture say?
what have you learned from it?
self-imposed behavior modification?
or something more?
what makes this question so difficult for you, that you still refuse to answer it?

do you doubt that God is able to raise up children of His own who know better than to run with scissors, without having to be told?

what does the scripture say about us -- that we as new creations are imbeciles without any proclivity to do what is right?
or are we given a heart that longs to do righteousness?

it seems like you're speaking as if the ones God has transformed into His own children are still children of the Devil.

what exactly do you think salvation is?
just a backstage pass? a stamp on your paperwork?

have you even heard of the new creation? of regeneration? of renewal? of rebirth?
would you mind actually giving us your understanding of these things, so we have some recourse other than 'putting words in your mouth' and remaining confused about you? please?

No new law....Love law is sculptures

Galatians 5:19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Luke 10:27: A
nd he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Deuteronomy 6:5
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Leviticus 19:18
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

First 4 of 10 commandments is how God instructs us to love Him. And Exodus 13:13
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that yemay know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.

So who is doing the sanctifying? Jesus only did what the Father commanded. Can we not now hear also what the Father commands? Jesus purpose was to cleanse us, forgive us, and make us righteous so that we can go before God, because we have an advocate in Him.

Seriously. That is the first place the Sabbath appears. What are you talking about?

Yes, ancient Israel as part of their covenant, but also all strangers, aliens, non-Israelites were also invited to have this covenant. The kingdom divided into 2 kingdoms, House of Judah and House of Israel. House of Israel was married to God (YHWH) ,but God divorced House of Israel, but promises to remarry.....bring back to the new covenant, but first Jesus had to come and die, buried for 3 days and resurrected in order for the House of Israel to remarry because God's own law of divorce and remarry requires that the first husband has to die. God with us, Immanuel. We probably don't have physical proof of our bloodline, but through Jesus it does not matter because the whole world is invited to become part of the commonwealth of Israel, by adoption, by grafting in and dying to our old natures we are buried also with Christ and now able to be called The Bride. IMO if you are just a gentle without adoption or grafting in, you will not be the bride. Once you are part of Israel, you recognise the old covenant commandments, teachings, instructions, corrections, directions have been placed in your heart, the Holy Spirit guides you, the scales fall from your eyes, your ears can hear and true and correct understanding of the New Testament teachings, parables and the acts of the apostles and disciples are only magnifying the Old.

Isaiah 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

God forbid: yes, we establish …Romans 7:12 Why the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.Romans 8:3,4 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, …Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes.Galatians 3:13,21 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse …Galatians 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, …Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel …1 John 3:4,5 Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression …

Compare the reasoning behind the (guarding) of the 4th commandment and Romans 1.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11 (KJV)

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Romans 1:20-28 (KJV)
