Sometimes I play at being a doctor when I am not trying to convince people of the truth and wonder of the Gospel.

The title pretty much says it all. Will you go to hell for suicide or is it just the Catholics blowing hot air again?

I certainly don't see suicide as helping one's case when standing before God and being judged.

As one who professes to be spiritually renewed, it's wouldn't exactly be a fruit of the Spirit that lives inside of me.

While I'm not a RC, the hatred for RCs is bothersome. I suspect that, for the nominal RC that has no intimate relationship with God, this thread is of tremendous help and encouragement. not .

One other point I had not mentioned, that we receive remission of sins if we repent, and not if we do not repent; for repenting is the first command Christ commanded when He began His ministry (Matthew 4:17), and it is repentance for the remission of sins is what is supposed to be taught in His Name among all nations (Luke 24:47). But the point is this: that if we commit self-murder, then we have committed a sin that we cannot repent of! Either we will put our trust into the hands and power of sin; or else we will put our trust into the hands and power of God; but what we cannot do is trust in both sin and God.

Now I am well aware there is a large swath of people here at CC that think Catholics are baby-eating Satan worshippers, or at the very least non-Christian, but any fool can see that opening statement as troll bait. I normally don't subscribe to threads because once I've thrown my two cents in, I have nothing further to discuss nor am I obligated to interact with anyone, but I'll keep an eye on this thread only because the storms here in Iowa have knocked out my satellite TV and I'm bored.

I was raised a good Irish/Polish Catholic for many years before hearing about Jesus being the only Mediator between God and man. I come from a long line of "good Catholics". We were not baby eating satan worshipers. We were a close family that followed a religion. We found comfort in our religion and our roots. We were good moral religious people who held the family in high regard. We all went to church together and there was a sense of value and unity in the familiar. So I know it is difficult to unlearn what you have learned all your life from any man made religion. The Catholics don't own the market on this.

It takes some major investigation and searching when someone is thinking about the religion they follow and if it is really worthy of giving their life to the way we did. These questions are normal and I asked them myself years ago. Mortal sins could land you in hell., OR in purgatory for a very very long time. Suicide was a major hell sentence along with murder and abortion. Some things were just not tolerated or done or even talked about. Also, mom was a John Wayne Maureen O'Hara fan and the movie "The Quite Man" was held in high regard too. (seriously)

Not all of us here on CC think the way you posted. I did think it was funny however., how because of the storms in Iowa you are watching this thread since it knocked out your satellite TV., and you were bored.

The whole point of CC2283 is about Salvation.

The Catholic Church believes one can lose their Salvation if they commit a Mortal sin. Interestingly enough Suicide is listed as a Mortal sin.

Therefore if a person commits Suicide they have committed a Mortal sin which removes from them their Salvation which then puts them in Hell because they being dead cannot repent of this Mortal sin.

Therefore by the very words of the Catholic Church a person will end up in Hell for killing themselves!

How can someone be saved and commit suicide? What kind of salvation is that which leads you to suicide?

But at least you are coherent. If you profess to be spiritually renewed (like so many others here) how could you commit suicide?

There is only one sin that is "unpardonable," and it is said elsewhere only that it could be unpardonable, and that is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

If God will in no wise turn away a broken heart........it seems to me one driven to suicide by pain and suffering stands more of a chance of pardon from God than the unrepented.

If one could lose one's salvation in the way that you have outlined then we are all sunk!
Almost certainly all of us have committed sin that we are not aware of, as believers, and so we would all be condemned.
In the same way that we cannot gain our salvation on our own merit, we cannot either maintain our salvation by merit or lose our salvation by demerit.
There are plenty of threads on this forum that very adequately deal with this.

In summary committing suicide does NOT make void one's salvation!

Its by Grace Bestil_Andno that we receive Salvation. We receive Salvation now, not after we die and spend time in Purgatory.

Salvation is not based on our Good Works like the Catholic Church teaches. Its our Rewards in Heaven that is based on our Works.

Also you have been lied to Bestil_Andno by the Pope into believing in Purgatory. Its by the Blood of Jesus is how we are cleansed of ALL our sins. In fact we are even cleansed of the Stain of our sins by the Blood of Jesus. And yes i know all about the teachings of the Catholic Church about the Stain of our sins. Therefore since we have been cleansed of both our sins and the stain of our sins we do not need to spend any time in Purgatory.

Please listen to the Holy Spirit, listen to God. Reject the Catholic Church, reject what the Popes teach, and above all reject Mary. Mary is dead and cannot hear nor answer your prayers. You are wasting you time praying the Hail Mary and the Rosary.

Only God is Omnipresent. Only God is Omniscience. Mary is not Omnipresent nor Omniscience. Mary cannot hear your prayers to her, nor can she answer you prayers. You are praying to a dead false Idol every time you pray the Hail Mary and pray the Rosary.

Do you not realize you have put you Soul in danger of Hell fire?

Please consider accepting Jesus as your ONLY Lord and Savior. We do not need Mary. Have nothing to do with Mary. Reject her! Follow Jesus only.

Since almost all of us have had a suicide in the family or very close to our families, I suppose it is a touchy subject to many.

It is not touchy for me because God has shown me by His grace and mercy that it is not for me to judge on such matters, and the ones or one closest to me is resolved as completely forgiveable by Him.

What is forgiven by God cannot be condemned by the flesh, not even with a majority vote.............God is good all of the time, and His justice is perfect, amen.

Actually we are anti-Satan. We cannot help it if the Catholics want to follow Satan instead of God. We cannot stop them from doing this, its their life.

It's not the salvation that leads to suicide, it's the mental illness that leads to it.

How many sane people do you know that just wake up one day and think..."you know? I think I'll just kill myself today...nothing better to do..."

The instinct and drive for survival is one of the strongest ones we have. To bypass or ignore that is not done in a healthy mental state.

His longing for death is not a suicidal, desperate one, but the reflection of the christian hope "I look for the resurrection of the dead and for the life of the world that is to come". Christians are not suicidal, they just don't feel like home into this world, they feel they belong with Jesus Christ. But they are far from being suicidal.
