If true christians are suppose to be no part of the world ....why do so many celebrate worldlt holidays ,which have little or no christian roots what so ever!?eg christmas,easter.Why if we are suppose to obey god rather than men ....do you continue to be involved with the political world?If we are supposed to love our neighbour as ourselves...why do you go to war?

Because there are some things in the faith that are just kind of neutral. Yeah a kid dressing up as Barney and getting some candy is on a road straight to hell! A kid who blows out candles on a birthday cake better get used to the flames on those candles, because man that's where he's going if he keeps celebrating that. (I'm over exaggerating to prove a point here. If my previous sentences seem outrageous, that's kind of the point.)

Because if we don't speak up, then the only voice will be the voice of non-Christians. We are salt and we are light to the world. That includes within the political arena. No we don't consider this Earth our home and our citizenship is in heaven, but let's at least try and keep our motel room clean while we're here.Trying to improve politics isn't a proclamation that we put politics above God. Rather it says we are taking our mission from God seriously.

just one hing about your post?jehovah created humans to live forever on te earth...why do so many of you assume you were created to liveon earth for a bit and then go to heaven???did god say to adam and eve enjoy the garden of eden for a bit because soon you'll be gong to heaven???true is states in rev that 144000 will be co-ruler with christ in heaven...a heavenly government entrustd to jesus by is father jehovah to rule over the earth for 1000 years after which he will hand it backover to jehovah and at which point there wil be new scrolls opened....i dont know about you but i rather like the prospect of living n earth forever watching jehovahs original plan come to light...for perfect humans to inherit the earth!Have you read your bible lately?:)

yes but in english it is rendered jehovah....just because some of you do not understand does not mean that it doesnt make sense....and im a girl not a guy...but to explain in simpler terms heaven is for heavenly creatures...humans were created for the earth not heaven ....so why do humans think that when they die they go to live in heaven?the bible says "the living are concious they will die but the dead are concious of nothing"read psalms146and ecclesiastes9:4,5. and i am not trying to come across as judgemental...but im trying to defend the truth.

Hey there kselby, was reading through the posts here and was just wandering what the question here really is? Is there something particular that is weighing on your mind and want to talk about. Being specific can narrow it down a bit. I just read you first post and the spectrum is very broad for a good answer to come through, Holidays, War, and Politics could have so many approaches. There are a lot of people here that can truly help give some insight, and some good conversation just take one path at a time. :)

Jehovah was used only after the late 17th centuary. At worst Jehovah is a corruption of the name of God, at best it is a poor English rendering. Yahweh is a much better rendering. Also we should always take care to capitalise the first letter of the name of God.

so. . .just wanted to point out that God commanded us to be in the world but not of it. We are here to lead people to Christ. so we need to be participating in the world--in order to reach people. Christmas, Easter, Saint Patricks day and even Halloween all have a christian side to them. People of the world need to see Christians and wonder what is different about them. They need to see our hope and joy. Heck--smiling is one of the best advertisements for God because it makes people wonder what you've got. What kind of disciples would we be if we isolated ourselves from everything in the world? how would we reach people for God then?
