The heat gets old after awhile. I hope you're no where near the forest fires I've seen on the news.
No they're at least an hour away. Thankfully the wind isn't blowing our way either. We got some ashes from the recent santa clarita fire even though it was an hour away. We're actually having some humidity where we are, which isn't normal for us. Its not helping the 100 degree weather lol.

70's cold? down south 70's is dream weather in the summer!!!! you must not live in a high humidity area !
81% humidity where I'm at right now. :(

I actually love the cold and have always wanted to visit Alaska. But last night I was feeling sick and the cold and rain was making me feel worse.

I'm all good now though.

I'm not really into Sherlock Holmes, but I find it amusing that Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly will be doing a comedic version of Holmes and Watson lol. I may actually see that. XD
I LOVED Step Brothers! I'll so watch that.

Dogs pant, some do it more than other's. Some pant when they walk no matter the temp. Some dogs pant in the car with the A/C on. Some pant when they're just sitting around doing nothing. Some pant when they see another dog and want to sniff that dog but you can't run across the street like a lunatic to greet the other dog because that other dog might not like other dogs.

My my point is, my dog pants when we walk, she pants when she's nervous or excited or anxious or bored or tired. She's been to the vet, just the other day actually. She's in good health. People, strangers tend to jump to a conclusion when they see a dog that pants a lot. I'm getting tired of it. Just today I got a lecture while I was walking her around the block. THE BLOCK. It's about 80 degrees here and not very humid today. We didn't walk ten miles. She likes to sniff a lot. So I get you're dog is panting you should have water. The guy gave her some water, okie dokie thank you. And I do normally bring a collapsible bowl and water. I figured since we were taking a leisurely stroll around THE BLOCK we'd be okay. I thanked him for the water and explained the situation. I know there are times animals aren't being treated well and someone needs to step in. But dogs pant, she's not locked in a hot car, she's not rabidly drooling, she's keeping herself cool. I actually had another person tell me I should shave her. The groomer said no, her coat is sort of like insulation and actually helps keep her cool. Plus she's pink under there, she'd get sunburn. I'm so tired of people always jumping to a conclusion before they even understand what's going on. I see it on line, the child who was drowned by the Aligator at Disney recently, people on line tore those parents apart. Let's all jump on our soap box because we're perfect parents or pet owners or what ever. Give me a break. It's funny when I'm walking with my kid's no one ever says, they look hot, would they like some water? But wanna be dog whisper's give me their two cents when they see my dog.

Sorry for the long post. I'm just irritated.

Funny you post this now. I just got done watching a show called Judge Ross (which I never watched before), and the case was a guy who left his dog outside a coffee shop for 15 minutes and this lady tried to "rescue" the dog from the heat and it bit her and she was trying to sue him for medical expenses. The lady was like a hardcore animal activist type and kept interrupting the judge and saying the dog looked at her with sad eyes and she could tell it was "obviously in distress", etc...
so when she couldn't find the owner she was going to release the dog (it was tied to a tree) and it bit her.

The judge said the owner shouldn't have left it out there for 15 minutes in 90 degree weather (which is really too much), but the lady assumed all risk when she tried to 'rescue' the dog... so she lost the case.

Good, she was going to set the dog free so it could rummage across the land and be free and happy. I would've bit her too. Who was going o take care of the dog when he was roaming around the streets? The guy should've been faster. Both of them don't sound to bright.

Oops, I shouldn't have said 'set it free'. She said she wanted to put it in some shade and get it some water. My bad.

But that's exactly what the judge said..that they both were "interesting people" lol. And the judge had the same type of dog that the case was about (a jack russell terrier).

What a coincidence! I also laugh at Northerners when they have to warm the engine of their car up before they can crank it.

I am definitely staying here in Tennessee, where temperatures of above 100 or below zero are both newsworthy events.
never had to do that with gas engines, Diesel motors get plugged in when the temps go below 30 because Diesel fuel starts to gel up when it gets cold.

My sister used to have a Jack Russell, his name was Topper. Topper was nuts. He'd run around her living room and scale the wall. I would dog sit him sometimes, I'd take Topper for a ride and he would jump all over the car. He was not officially trained, he'd come when called and shake and walk on a leash pretty well but he was nothing like Eddie on Frasier. She took him out of an abusive situation, which was good. He lived a long time.

Topper is a perfect name for that type of dog! :D
