Willie-T, The group is aware of the statistic of Black on Black crime.
Dude, The group is also aware of the stigmatism (points 1-5) of BLM.
We live in Columbus, Indiana. It isn't a tiny community, but it isn't
as bad as the major cities. The head of the group here in Columbus
said that she wanted to de-stigmatize the BLM name in our community.
I did sign up as a member. The mission statement of our group includes
nonviolence and working with, not against, our police to discourage
discrimination and to promote good, trusting relationship between
police and people of color.
They call the group BLM of Columbus, but we aren't really BLM.
I'm going to try to work within the group to get the name changed.
There is really no benefit of having the BLM name, but it does give
us plenty of disadvantage. I'll let you all know how it goes.
