Hello

I have this person who texts me but doesn't ask many if any questions. In general doesn't help keep the conversation going though they started it. Usually they just say hello and then it's up to me to keep it going. It ends up feeling like a one ended conversation. What do I do? Do I not reply (sounds rude to me) or try and talk to them? What do I say after I say hello to them? I usually say hello how are you doing? But if we just talked two days ago sounds repetitive.

Suggestions please :)

Thank you

Just say hello. If they say nothing back then the conversation is over. You are the one taking it on yourself to maintain the conversation. You are the one that can choose to remove the burden from yourself. If they ask why you stopped talking to them, give an honest answer.

How about just start talking about Jesus? Tell them who He is, and all the things He has done.

Either they will stop texting you altogether, or you will get somewhere that will help both of you.

But i don't think it's "rude" of you not to respond to someone who doesn't have anything to say. If they started the conversation, then went nowhere with it, why should you be put on the spot to keep up what you never had anything to do with starting anyway?

I have done that. Previously they didn't reply and I left it at that then they texted me hello in like a couple of weeks time. It was back to me keeping it up. I suppose I shouldn't.

Hi HS

Maybe they just arent a big talker but your hello may be appreciated much more than you think! Sometime a hello and receiving a hello back is an experience of connection for a person. Some people are more listeners. I guess you wont know without asking. That said why not just be open and tell them that you would love to have more input from them in the conversation as you feel like you hog the conversation lol. Ask them what is on their mind and give time and space for the answer.

Hope you work it out.

Yeah. You don't just do it once. You do it every time.

That's probably their problem too. They want to talk but just don't know how too.
That's true and it sure can get awkward lol. Maybe they don't wanna sound so desperate for attention but if they really want to know what's up with you, they'd ask. If they don't then, they're prolly just waiting for you to get them out of their bordeom, which, frankly, is not your job lol.

Or. When they say Hi or Hello next time, reply with: Yes?

this also brings in the differences between temperaments but to be honest they could be outgoing but not a conversation starter whereas im introverted but quietly confident but can be friendly and sometimes excited but im nt excitable all the time like my base jumping bro whos in the states in snake valley CA!

Why not say "why do you keep texting me but only say hello"

Or ask "what do you want"

Or "can I help you"

Or "are you stalking me"

Or "stop texting me"

Or "did you know you are annoying"

Or .... Well you get the idea.lol It depends how well you know them etc!

I like those! especially the first one might try that one day. I haven't seen them in years but they used to be a family friend. I don't want to hurt them so the last three won't work lol.
