I fully believe that GOD WANTS us to go to doctors and get help if we need it.

I also see the benefit in medicine or therapy.

However, I question that is it really doctors that heal or God who made our human bodies with the ability to heal and recover?

Yes doctors can operate and remove cancer or set bones.

However, they can't make your body heal.

Only God can. He causes our cells to replicate and replace the injured or removed parts of us.

It just occured to me that some people are like "what has God ever done for me? He didn't heal me, the doctor did. Or science."

It's not true. God made your body. He blessed you with doctors and money to pay for those doctors.

God should be given people's praises not scorn and mocking because He didn't do a "miracle" of healing someone instantaneously.

Even death isn't the end because God promises us resurrection and eternal life with Him.

So if you wonder what God has given you today.....

close your eyes, take a deep breath..,

and than thank Him for being alive and allowing you to breathe.

Interesting question...

I don't think a doctor can "heal".... but a doctor is, many times, the only instrument that can assist your body in healing.

One example... if your body has some kind of infection from a wound of some sort, gunshot, knife wound, compound fracture, ... whatever. Left alone, you will very likely die. The doctor's knowledge, combined with the man-created antibiotics, can give your body the CHANCE to heal itself. Instead of being overwhelmed by the infection, the antibiotics hold it at bay, giving your body time to fight it off.

Did the doctor heal? No, not in reality... but without his help, your body would have died.

I agree, it is an interesting question.

When things go right the doctor is given the credit for a patients recovery yet when things don't, the results were beyond the doctors control.

Likewise, does anyone hold God responsible for children born with birth defects? Or if a person dies with a treatable condition then was it God's fault even though the doctor or the patient might not have followed the proper protocol in treating it.

It's a good question. For my way of looking at such things, an example is like driving a car. I could never invent such an amazing useful thing as a car but I'm blessed to get to benefit from someone elses abilities and smarts.

There is so much I don't know but have the benefit of using things that others do know about. Study of the human body and gifted minds and hands of surgeons and other very intelligent people are gifts from God even if the people are not saved. He made amazing creations when He made man.

But even with such amazing creatures as us humans., sin has come in and ruined the purity of it all so people had to figure out how to fix things that get messed up like bodies and minds. I believe God gifts doctors with abilities and He uses them greatly. But I also believe God heals and by passed doctors too for us and because of Jesus.
I've experienced progressive healing where at first I have 20% healing.,than 50% then 75% then eventually 100%. Not all healing is instantaneous all at once. Just like my faith grows, so does my healing. Jesus is amazing.

Yes, I do go to the doctor on occasion but mostly have depended on Jesus healing me. The fact that we get up each day and breath like you said Ariel is a gift. We have so much to be thankful for.

I think doctors can heal as well as the human body can heal on its own both depending on how much healing is needed. Everything that goes wrong cannot always be healed many people pass away from things that can't be healed by human intervention or by the human body healing it's self. Without a doubt God heals but of coarse,, but who knows when the healing comes or doesn't but only God by his timing or reasons.

I broke my wrist a few years back. It was a VERY bad break. So bad, in fact, the surgeon thought he may have to fuse the wrist. But he took a chance and pieced it back, put me in an external fixator, and let me heal. What he didn't know what that my entire church was praying for my complete recovery. You see, I was the church's only keyboardist, and if the wrist didn't heal, there would be no one to play keys!

Anyway, after six weeks of the fixator and 10 weeks of physical therapy agony, I was, for all intents and purposes, completely healed. Did my surgeon take credit? Nope. He knew it must have been divine intervention. He couldn't believe the outcome.

God does the healing, but He uses doctors and other medical professionals to aid.

Do doctors heal?
Their intervention, by removing adverse environments/conditions (from the body), aids healing, which is done by the Immune system.

Hmm..........I wonder if we could talk Brother Yet into transferring all of his pent up anger towards Pastors to Doctors?

For the most part doctor's just treat symptoms and not the underlying cause of the disease or illness from which they emanate.

Awesome question and I lean toward that God has made our bodies so that we can heal ourselves without all these medicines. I also believe in miracles, so I also believe in the healing power of God through the HS that dwells inside of us. I also believe God protects the faithful and bless those that walk in His light. Therefore I believe if we are blessed by God he will protect us from the major things that can happen to us. I know in my own life there has been many times I should have probably been killed or been seriously injured and I wasn't.

Exactly. And I want to say I wasn't trying to boast saying I am special or anything. A lot of times it has been family members praying for me that probably brought me out unscathed. I was in a car accident where one person was killed an another seriously injured. Before the accident two of my Aunts were led to pray for me. I wasn't walking in faith at the time so this is an example of prayer protecting me rather than my walk with the Lord.

It was an interesting discovery for me when I realized it is Jesus faithfulness and my giving credit for my place in healing was based on His and not my own faithfulness.

I've learned it is giving credit to Jesus for making my position solid and secure. Only then did I see the peace and healing flow into my life. I still fail many times but because of Jesus I'm on the upward call to succeed. Progressively learning to allow Jesus to live His life through me is what the Holy Spirit is teaching through my inner man.

The key has been to see Christ in me as Him being my identity. It's no longer I but Christ living through me, and the life I now live I live through the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Psalm 91 is a promise because of Christ. Accessing these promises by faith is by the faith of the Son of God who loves us and gave His live for us. It isn't about our faithfulness, but His.

Should we try to attain these promises based on our own merit., they will not be seen in our lives while we live here in these temporal flesh and blood bodies. Promises went unclaimed every day until I began to see Jesus instead of me.

Let me share this as something I've observed to be true. It is a good thing to boast in Christ's love for us. We are special because of Him! Jesus loves you and you are special because He loves you and gave His life for you. It is my belief that prayer is very important and we are told to pray and that prayers from those who believe are heard.

We don't get blessed because we deserve it or earn it. We are blessed because of Jesus and that He has placed us in His righteousness. We are the righteousness of God IN Christ.

Without faith it is impossible to please God so yes, the prayers of those who have faith will make a difference in lives of people. The prayers of a righteous man avails much. But not because we deserve it because in ourselves we deserve nothing. In Christ we are blessed because grace gives us what we do not deserve. Our whole relationship with God is based on grace.

The righteous man who prays the kind of prayers that avail much are saved people who believe in Christ's sufficiency.

I find this question funny, because... Yes Jesus mentions in the Bible that it is not the healthy who need a Doctor but the Sick... But, at least here in the United States I see soooo much evil in Hospitals/Nursing homes everytime I visit my Grandmother for example. I haven't had a physical since I turned 18 (11 years ago) but I find that mostly Doctors really are in it for the money. And it's evident by how outrageous healthcare costs are and such. What is amazing is that God gave our bodies the ability to heal themselves... you just need to give them time (fasting). The best healthcare for ourselves is free :) And NO Doctor I've ever met has advocated fasting, and has told me to stop when I told them I do this for myself. It sickens me. However I do agree with Hornetguy that if I ever got my leg chopped off fasting on the spot would not do much for me ATM, unlike say how fasting would heal me if I had a long term disease.

I just got a new doctor and she did a few checkup for me...so I don't think all doctors are in it for the money.

Some really just want to help people say healthy.

If God is the healer, and he is, then why would we put chemicals in our bodies that are counter to the specific healing functions he designed?

Tell that to the Apostles and disciples during Jesus time who were imprisoned, tortured or killed. Or take a read through Foxes Book of Martyrs. Then repeat that Osteen-esque 'your best life now' bunk that God will always protect us.
While you're at it tell that to all the people in the church with health issues. Or who lost people to health problems. Or in car accidents. Or who have been raped or murdered.
Sometimes God will protect us. But we are never promised we will Always be protected. Otherwise this thread wouldn't even exist.

Modern western medicines main strength is diagnosis and medical type trauma emergencies. When it comes to chronic disease, it falls way short of the biologically healing capabilities of our created bodies. How can any Christian at least consider giving give prayer and thought and research to whether or not diet and life style may be the sustainable and healthy solution to their illness's?
Allowing a doctor to tell you what meds to take, how to live in the physical realm, control the toxic substances going into your bodies without investigating how God designed us to eat and care for our bodies is like letting a priest be the prayer mediator and exclusive bible interpreter for you in your Christian walk.
None of you would do that, yet you allow someone to control your God created bodies without a second thought. Whats wrong with you people?
When God said my people perish because of lack knowledge He said a mouthful.

Soooooo, did you ever think your post would end up creating the path that happened on this thread? (Could it have taken this many directions if you tried to force it to? lol)
