I gotta wonder if those that are so hard about drinking Christians, are just as hard against Christian gossipers, dividers, slanderers, strife makers, etc.
What does God hate worse, those that have some wine, or those that spread strife....
There's nothing inherently "christian" about a strife maker, slanderer, divider etc....it would be like saying your a "good" robber....bottom line is the person is still a robber no matter how he justifies it.... but I do understand your post some people get tied up in knots b/c of one topic in the Bible and glaze over the rest of it...
These two posts are good examples of over generalization, and without any evidence, either anecdotal or with statistics.
So in fact, that really makes it unjustified slander!! And to think I was just posting about how this thread had not had any slander in it only a page ago. Sigh! And to quote another word - strife! What is the point of these two posts but to cause strife?
I know for sure, that I do not dwell on only one sin! I try to deal with all sin in my life, and I'll bet that applies not only to people in this forum, but also to Christians elsewhere. Just sad that you would attack people who have had life changing experiences from God, with regards to being delivered from alcohol, and then you would attack them for relating this experience, and why they do not think any drinking is right - most of these posts have been supported with Scripture, which neither of these posts are!
Very sad, and I hope you will both repent, and show mercy and grace to your brothers and sisters in Christ, instead of attacking them with slander, trying to cause strife and division, just because you didn't agree with their conclusions in the matter of whether everyone should totally abstain from alcohol, or accept that some people can drink in moderation.
Like I said before, for at least 30 years or more, I was against ALL and ANY Christians drinking. I do repent of maybe hurting and insulting people. And I also thank God for showing me that while
I MUST abstain forever, that is not always the case for others. Do I like drinking at all? Never - it disgusts me - but that is my personal response, and it is not my business to judge people. But I do defend people who strongly feel that no Christian should drink and I still think that there are lots of reasons the church would be in much better shape if no one did - absolutely!
So awaiting your apologies! You know, for slander, strife and divisions, that sort of thing! You certainly do not have the right to judge these Christians either! You know nothing of their lives, and the work that the Holy Spirit is doing, and has done in their hearts, lives, and bodies!
