If one needs to drink to have fun, that's one of the signs of being an alcoholic. Just saying.

I didn't imply a person was a bad person. I said in my very first post a person should know his or her limits. That implies drinking is okay as long as one isn't getting drunk, which is translated back to the Bible.

And we would agree with that one.

Everything in moderation. I know some denominations who find drinking at all, sinful. But, in moderation, I don't see a problem.

For some, alcohol really is a touchy subject. They've had family members dead because of it. Those grown up in alcoholic homes feel that effects today. I don't really care for this passive aggressiveness going on here, especially for something serious like alcohol. I think it shows a person's true maturity, sadly. Your talking to him, lost a brother in a car wreck whose drunken father went right through the windshield head first. Family shattered. I can't talk about it? Or maybe I can't talk about in a public forum...Maybe it helps to talk about it. Maybe it tempers a lot of pent up rage.

I guess people are missing the words "passibe aggressive behavior" in my post. Are we unable to abstain from such behavior? This isn't directed at you personally. But you're the third person already that missed those words in my post.

Tho on the other hand just because you have fun from drinking doesn't mean you need it to have fun. It's just another form of it.

you have now idea how much I know about alcoholism. How much it affected me as a child.

I'm not lashing out, no one is going to cure tragedies like this in a chat room. But to suppress the discussion is not the answer. Sirk was making the point imo that one could have a few beers and not sin. That's all. It's a matter of the heart and dependence and where you place trust.

If someone needs alcohol to function properly, it is a sign of an addiction. No amount of rationalization will change that.

I've only known one person who died from alcoholism, but this isn't triggering anything...it's that this type of conversation doesn't have anything to do with a Bible discussion. lol

But The Sirk doesn't get drunk/isn't drunk.

And I agree with Sirk. Hence, how I can have one or two and always stop. Seeing what alcohol did to my family, it is remarkable I never turned to it for comfort. I turned to food, though, I but that's neither here nor there.

According to the law;one drink is sufficient to be legally drunk ( one beer equals one glass of wine equals one shot)well unless one is a regular drinker and their tolerance has increased or if one is very overweight.

Yes, they do...... Some in here know more about alcohol than they do their Bibles, but hey, who cares, right?

I know that nowhere in the Bible does it say that having a drink is a sin, drunkenness is a sin , but having a drink, not.
