I know some of you do not observe it.
This thread is for those who do.

Although anyone can comment.
I am not the comment-police.

Yom Teruah!

"Speak to the people of Israel, saying,
In the seventh month, on the first day of the month,
you shall observe a day of solemn rest,
a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation.

Leviticus 23:24 (ESV2011, MBM)

 
I sometimes kinda wish Christians observed Jewish holidays, to some extent. Id like to see what they are like.

I once listened to a Christian radio talk show where they tried to convince Christians that they should not observe Jewish holidays, and the reason was because something something legalism not grace. While I understand the importance of grace, it just didnt seem to have anything to do with these holidays. I cannot remember a verse where we are commanded to celebrate holidays or die. And they didnt use any verses to back up what they were saying so I didnt learn anything from it.

But yeah, anywho, I think it would be way cool to participate in something like that.
 
All the feasts are seen in the Lord Jesus Christ's finished work. ( Actually all the Law is fulfilled in Christ Himself )

I love to read about the different shadows in the Old Covenant including the feasts that are revealed in the real substance which is Christ Himself. I don't however follow the shadow - I follow the Lord Himself who is the real substance of the shadow in the Old Covenant.

Which has the real substance - the shadow or the real person whom the shadow represents? It is obvious that the Lord is the real thing but we still can learn to see the beauty of our Lord's completed work in all the Old Covenant shadows. It's a good thing to look into these things to see Christ manifested in fullness.
 
I too am looking forward to Trumpets.... Yom Kippur is coming up fast.... its a blessing to keep the appointments the creator of the universe has made with us. We are looking forward to it.. many who do not understand speak ill of us and make all manner of false accusations born of misunderstanding...
 
As I said a few times before - I don't care if someone wants to observe a day or a feast. I actually love to read about how Christ is the fulfillment of the feasts and all the O.C. laws and ceremonies.

I love the Hebrew culture and the ancient Hebrew language. They all speak of Christ. I love to listen to teachers talk about Christ being in the law and the prophets.

If they start talking about having to go back to the Law now that we are in Christ - that is where the perversion of the gospel of Christ comes.


Those that say "if we don't keep the Sabbath like in the Law or the feasts - then we are sinning. " It's a perversion of the gospel of Christ. That I stand against vehemently as that is the sign of Judaizers in our midst just like Paul encountered in Galatia.

On that note I say to those that are interested in observing this shadow of the Feasts of Trumpets - "Happy Feast day" and keep your eyes on Christ. He is the real substance and the real life.

I say "Shalom" to the real ethnic Jewish people in our midst as this is part of your heritage. God bless you abundantly!

why would we? They have been fulfilled in Christ..

If people kept more focus on Christ, and less on traditions and ceremony, I think the church would be a more powerful force.. as our focus is on others, and who it is Christ wants us to serve.

maybe someone could leave a book about Holy Days under your tree on Dec25.

In my opinion, Messiah has shown us a fulfillment of the Spring Feasts: Passover/Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost.

I wonder what it will be like when He returns to fulfill the Fall Feasts: Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles.
Could be a worthwhile study if you have never done it.
I could be wrong, of course.

Our church will meet Sunday early evening for prayer and blowing of shofars (Ram's horns,) a mikveh (baptism) in the Colorado River, and then fellowship meal afterwards. Monday is a Sabbath as well.

Looking forward to it!

Maybe some will.

This is called a mikveh that is a traditional type of "baptism" where people dunk themselves in water symbolizing their remembrance and desire to be cleansed of our filth and sin by the true living water.

Ok....I have never heard of that before in my life.

I suppose it is no different then the religious ritual that some of us Christians used to go through in always "re-dedicating" ourselves at the altar every time we think we are "away" from God instead of actually believing the gospel of the grace of Christ and the fact that we are one with Christ for eternity.

It's funny how we could judge your group for this ritual and we have rituals too.

Jesus is yet to fulfill this one Bruce...but that day will come soon I hope.
