The purpose of this study is to show not only the importance of the new moon and what events took place as recorded in scripture on this day but also to show how we can apply in our lives not only its observence but the blessings associated with it, as you know, the longer we walk in truth the more is revealed, and the more is revealed the more we can benifit from it, the observence of the new moon is not to add yet another requirement, but rather to receive the blessings of a closer walk with Yahweh.

Am I missing something...now the 17th day is a new moon in the 2nd month?

This scripture for "month" is the exact same Hebrew word for month and now it looks like the new moon is on the 10th day.

I am not arguing - I'm trying to find out how people have determined the new moon is on the first day of every month. I thought you said it had something to do with Noah in post #10?....is that true or were you referring to something else?

sir, I was using a verse that had the word "month" to show you how Strongs and BDB define "month".

the first day of the month is the first day of the new moon.

Maybe their months weren't always 30-31 days? Is that possible? I was googking lunar phases and it does very by a day on average. Maybe the calculated the month based on the cycle instead of our modern way of dividing months

yes, very true.

I believe, before the deluge, the (lunar) months were a perfect 30 day cycle.
After the deluge, not so much.
But in the future, in my opinion, the next great earthquake, may throw us into another perfect 30 day lunar cycle.
