I don't know the origin of Dinosaurs and the many thousands of fossils they have found of them and other long extinct animals. One thing I do know is that pretending they are all fakes and other Ostrich like explanations because they don't fit into a particular theology wont make them go away.

Something occurred to me earlier this week, that as believers, we are not 100% converted overnight, immediately becoming sinless and all-wise, all-knowledgeable and righteous, completely sanctified -- but God works very patiently in us, renewing us day by day, until that day when Christ returns for us and the redemptive work He began in us is brought to completion.

Looking at human history through the record of the interaction of God and His people in the scripture, though the Lord has had His plan for the salvation of mankind since the beginning, He has also worked very patiently, bringing it about over the course of millennia, fulfilling promises made to one generation through mighty works in generations to come.

Rarely does He in an instant, *bam* miraculously change a man completely. Which of you went from a heathen one day to the perfect image of Jesus Christ the next? And when we are asked about this, what is our reply? Isn't it that God works patiently in His own time in our lives, and that the lessons learned over the course of many years are better learned, and better ingrained, and more precious and dear -- that He works in us this way according to His wisdom, perfectly changing us step-by-step, precept upon precept, mercy upon mercy?

But then we look at the creation of the world, and we think God performed all this in a great hurry. That in the course of an hundred hours or so He formed the entire universe in all its vast complexity and all the myriad kinds of life on the earth, as though impatiently, 'faking' the impression of aeons.

The heavens and the earth - that declare His handiwork, and by the careful regarding of which we ought to know of His eternal qualities: we think they were a rush job. The Almighty Father, the Ancient of Days, God from everlasting to everlasting, to whom a billion years is a blink of an eye, we think that the unfathomably complex and immense cosmos that teaches us who He is and of His greatness and power was tossed together in less than a week?

Does that seem odd to anyone else?

And i look at why we think this, and it seems like the text of Genesis is certainly just as respected as scripture if it is understood as speaking of tremendous mysteries in simply communicable terms, of long ages regarded as days, for this is how God in His eternal patience must also see us, the whole of human history as but an hour: a night, in which we wait for the dawn. The daystar has risen, and we know that great light will soon come. Come, Lord, come! You bring your reward with you, and you will cause us to know the truth of all things! You are Lord, and with you is all wisdom :)

Or we could, you know, just believe what Genesis plainly says is true.

The word dinosaur was not even in the English language until sometime in the 1800s. Before that they were referred to as dragons. I'm thinking the Leviathan mentioned in the Book of Job could have very well been some type of dinosaur

Come on Tin Tin that still wouldn't explain where these beasts fit into the scheme of things. As the old saying goes ''Denial is't just a River in Africa''

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5
Day 6 - every animal kind and Adam and Eve (every animal kind must include dinosaurs because there were no animals before Day 6).

Only by staying inside the fundamentalist box. In Australia there was once a lizard he size of a small Car.

Larger. The Megalania prisca (giant goanna/monitor lizard) was up to 7 metres in length.

I don't stay inside any particular box. I read the Bible plainly, except where context determines that figurative language is to be used. Most of the time this is very obvious. Scripture interprets Scripture. And clear Scripture always, always must be used to make sense of less clear Scripture (not the other way around). Finally, God's Word should be the worldview by which we view everything in creation. Early Genesis is certainly not figurative in nature.

Thanks for the info TinTin. Think of all the Burgers you could have had out of one of them!

Mmmm. Lizard burgers...

What I really like about the article Yet linked to was that it was created by a Yoga instructor. I mean, really, what's more the more questionable here... someone who advocates the practice of Yoga, which has its origins in pagan Eastern Mysticism, or the existence dinosaurs, which is based in fossil evidence?

I hate to break it to the OP, but I own a fossilized raptor talon. Two of them, actually. So unless you can show me proof that the Masons have spent the last 500 years burying and dropping fake dinosaur bones by helicopter on this Continent in their spare time, your argument is invalid.

(Because if earth/flat + fake dinosaurs = Masons having helicopters by 1500 A.D. - Take that, Wilbur and Orville...)
