I have come to this position with EG so many times, it is like leading the blind
and I say the same things and he just stops, because he has nowhere else to go.

But spiritual realities are that, part of who we are.
Inside ourselves our emotions will convince us we know something for certain
but we hold to opposite points at the same time. I have done this in the past,
and I am sure I do it still in some areas.

This is why we need to share and explore. I am always open, but again it has
to be more than just antagonism, and miss-representation.

To the day I die, I will do the same realities, it is what we are called to do,
to be a witness to Christ and His work in us.

Does that make it different (and more authoritative) from someone else's (my?!) interpretation?
Or is it equal to Scripture because it is in the "Expositor's Study Bible"?

:) :)

I think what he was trying to say is that the fellow was plagiarizing someone elses words - not giving credit to make oneself appear like the one who originally thought and wrote the words.

Either that or....this Swaggert fellow is someone who he thinks is awful and he wants to associate the two together - as in collusion, in a bad way.

Now this is my point. You understood the term value, or worthy to mean you have done something good.

Well. that is what she meant.. How else should I take it..

God calls us valuable because we are lost sheep, we are the prodigal son, the person who
has gone astray.

This is not in context of what she was saying.

But this reality has completely passed you by. So focused on justification your mind is
you do not know what I am talking about. That is the blindness, spiritual blindness you
have.

dude, I know exactly what your talking about. Please..

God loves us because we are His children lost in sin. We only have a hope because He has shone a light into our hearts, and through this light we have seen He is our saviour.

That does not mean we have any worth that we are worthy of salvation.

So I do not know what you have proved other than you do not see.
But God bless you, God does really love you, but you are really lost in a maze of your
own making.

What I have proved is either

1. You did not understand what she meant

2. I am right, And you think people are worthy of salvation, thus can earn it, and on top of that, it means they can lose salvation.

Just like you always do with everyone who asks you. You refuse to answer. Your just like your buddy ISIT, and you wonder why you get so much flak.

I asked you yes or no answers. All you had to do was say yes EG, that is what I believe, or no RG you are wrong.

The fact you do not do such simple things, but spend MORE TIME and energy typing this post that it would to say yes or no. proves my point.

There comes a point, where the intention is only to cause division.

A communication works by seeing how someone is reading a phrase and addressing that.
The problem is when you get too close to the bone it all goes belly up, and gloves are off
and everything is turned the other way.

Well God bless you, I just praise Jesus for His word in my life.
Thankfully this is all I am called to do.

My points are simple and most people understand what I am saying.
It is no surprise those who spiritually oppose me turn it into something totally
different. I am used to this, and our brothers and sisters in Christ have been walking
this road after Christ since the time God spoke to man.

Walk on in love my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ for He is worthy, and we are
His people, born to walk in the Kingdom.

??? Can you help me? What are you answering?

What are you saying by the underlines? I honestly have no idea?

the writing is on the WALL, read yourselves in all honesty, if this is possible and I
promise, 'enlightenment will eventually come, if we are open to it...

Not actually - follow our later correspondence - He stands by Swaggert's interpretation as the correct "literal" one

At least if I am understanding him and our conversation - I am still a bit confused over the whole matter . . .

That does not mean we have any worth that we are worthy of salvation.

I have to highlight this.
My wife likes pebbles from a beach. She will pick one up, look at another, and
choose a few to take home. They have value to her.

So sinners have value to God, they are not without value. Some would describe this
as potential, possibility, not a hopeless cause.

But this simple point is being missed. I cannot get any further unless the person
reading this understands what I am saying. But this illustrates why these conversations
often go nowhere.

Jesus had the same problem with Nicodemus. "You must be born again"
And funnily this is the same issue between the groups as to what this really means.

Hey! I also believe that God created us with worth (different than "worthy of salvation") and I also believe that salvation can be lost!

:) But I don't believe that we can earn salvation! :)

Stunned - I understand your point. I have lost any confidence in the people you are trying to
understand, and they literally refuse to look at things from another point of view.

So I know where they are and what they are doing.

I have met this before, holding a mirage faith, disjointed positions which in isolation appear
sensible, but when brought together fail. It is why over time more and more people are
pulling their position apart and seeing the glory of Christ as it really is, in victory and purity.

The thing about the cross, is when you see Jesus and the cross it changes you, everyday.
And it is here I rejoice, and I encourage everyone to dwell here and learn from our Lord,
listen to His words and walk in His ways. Only then will the Kingdom of God truly dwell
in your heart.

And that is all I have. I would say I follow the tradition of Bunyon and pilgrimes progress,
and the struggles of sanctification and motivation in the things of God.

But His sheep know of what I speak, and that will always be enough, Halleluyah, for the
Lamb is worthy of eternal glory and honour forever, Amen[/QUOTE/]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand. I see it more like you do. I saw that a long time ago. I desire the practical help that old saints like Bunyan, John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and all those old dusty guys have given me in my wrestlings with God.

But I think that you ALSO refuse to see it from their view. You admitted a few months ago, when we hunkered down in a thread with the promise that we would try again to understand what each other was meaning without name calling, that you had given up long ago and didn't take any conversation with them seriously. So we all decided that was the end of it because of course there was no need to continue then.

And to be perfectly honest, some small part of me was being selfish, because I myself did not understand many of the phrases they repeat so often and wanted very much to understand them because I sort of leaned toward your understanding at least a little more than theirs, yet I saw a slightly greater enabling on their part because they had better control over their tongues than you - even though the way they explained their walks was so vastly different from what I myself had experienced. (Although one man did get cranked up, but then he left for awhile because he saw that his flesh had risen up and that he had lost any control he had over his tongue, and because out of love for us he listened when we counseled him that he was not walking right in that stirred up state.)

You know, one of those dusty old saints I was speaking of a moment ago said that God leads us by two different ways, depending on which way suits us, because some are "actives" and some are "contemplatives." I thought at first that he was making excuses for people who didn't have a deep relationship with God, but as I read further, I believed he had truly seen this in monastery life and that both had a deep relationship with God but just couldn't understand one another and tried to force each other to walk the path God had taken THEM on. I truly think we do that even when we aren't in a monastery.

Hey! I also believe that God created us with worth (different than "worthy of salvation") and I also believe that salvation can be lost!

Chester, please don't ignore me and my confusion.
You said you believe salvation can be lost.
Help me understand.
What would cause me to lose my salvation?
I really don't want to lose my salvation.

??? Can you help me? What are you answering?

What are you saying by the underlines? I honestly have no idea?

Sure.,....:)

I am showing that we believers in Christ are in fact new creations, we are not of the world anymore altho we live in the world.

We have the Holy Spirit to reveal the supernatural spiritual truths that are in Christ and our natural minds cannot understand them. That all these things are of God and not of our selves. Our citizenship is in heaven now. The real us - in our inner man in Christ is seated with the Lord in heaven. Eph.2:6

To some people the new creation in Christ doesn't exist - only in our minds so I was showing scriptures that says differently and that we can't understand the spiritual truths that are in Christ with humanistic natural thinking. It'll be all foolishness to this mindset.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
1 Cor 6:19-20

God has made His dwelling in our bodies and in His church of believers, amen, and halleluyah.

This is truly a communion with the Lord through Jesus Christ Amen

Well Chester, I am still confused.

Some people say they are saved by faith. They have faith that Jesus will save them. They believe that only Jesus has the power to save.
But then they say that salvation can be lost. The way I understand this is that Jesus has the power to save but does not have the power to keep a person saved, that in some way that person that He saved can overpower Jesus and lose his salvation.
I just want some one who believes that salvation can be lost to answer this simple question.
How can I trust, believe, have faith that Jesus has the power to save if He does not have the power to keep me saved.
I could have never had faith that Jesus would save me if I did not also have faith that He will keep me saved.

I appreciate your confusion -- Ah - that didn't come out quite right -

What I mean is - I am glad you aren't writing me off as a heretic - What you are saying just does not make any sense to me at all either - really!

I had a two paragraph paragraph explanation written and then thought better of it -- I have been being lured all day to write more - but I have refused to do so on this thread - and you almost got me to do it! :)

Why don't I? I am not trying to avoid the issue; I just don't have the time right now to do it well and answer the "ferocious friendly conversation" that is sure to ensue.

Give me a few day (a week) and I will try to answer on a new thread (note - I didn't say "promise" - but I will try!)

EG already got much more out of me than I intended.

Chester, please don't ignore me and my confusion.
You said you believe salvation can be lost.
Help me understand.

I really don't want to lose my salvation.

Ha! Almost thou persuadest me to open my mouth!

(See my other recent post!) :)

Stunned by Grace - Post #311 - Best post here all day!

I would give you more reputation if I could!

Still refusing to admit he has a problem. Still blaming everyone else for his own shortcomings.

Sad..

newsflash.

When you tell people that someone does not believe what they are saying, You are playing God.. You are saying you know what they think better than they know themself.

Peter does it in a caterwauling way. You and I do it in a more graceful and gentle way, but we do it also.
For example, chester said he believes salvation is possible to lose but that he is rabid against works for salvation.
You said that you would still think he is works based salvation even though he has said he isn't.
Now, you don't think chester is lying on purpose and you don't scream heretic and liar, but you believe he is saying he believes thus and thus but that....he isn't REALLY believing what he says he believes. You think he is works based even though he has said he isn't. It is the same thing as you saying what you believe and peter saying no, you REALLY believe something else.

Do you see my point?
