Three against one, but I must stay my course. Anybody can paint, but what determines whether a person is good at painting? If the excuses don't get her days off work they are not good ones, therefore she is not good at making excuses to get a day off work.

But, you see, figuratively speaking, her boss cannot appreciate art and thinks monalisa is ugly. Therefore...

Whenever I say to myself "Hey, I'm fairly good at that", something happens to prove me wrong :p So I don't think I dare to

Beauty. It's in WHO's eyes?

Often times we may see each other, or ourselves, as rather unattractive lumps of clay,
but God our Creator sees us as being conformed into the image of His Son.

He sees us as the finished piece. His masterpiece, if you will.

And just because some people don't always see it or appreciate it, myself included, does that make our God and Savior any less of a Master Potter?

Melita is a 'Master Craftsman' when it comes to concocting the 'random excuses' referrred to,
which many people will attest to, even though some people don't always see it or appreciate it.

I think I pretty much got thru this life by the grace of God and the skin of my teeth becuz I don't know that I'm excellent at anything. I mean, I have some talents like cooking, writing poetry & songs, sketching, sewing, weight training, walking all over creation, dancing, training pets, etc. No biggies. The only thing I believe I did really, really right was to love my kids with all my heart. All three of my adult kids love me so much, always encourage me, rally behind me, believe in me and regularly remind me how proud they are of any of my accomplishments, even in little things. I just can't believe I would be so lucky as to have three of the most loving kids any mother could want. So I must have done something right. :)

I enjoyed these responses! My ten (whew, this is gonna be tough...)

1. over eating@ mealtime
2. pretending i'm a good guitar player. (I just use lots of effects lol)
3. cooking
4. Eating while i'm cooking
5. Painting cars
6. Playing pool
7. bowling, as long as they're the old wooden lanes. I'm terrible on new synthetics.
8. Giving thanks and credit when deserved
9. Praying to the Lord. (he probably thinks "oh, HIM, again?")...seriously
10. Cats. Everytime I go to visit someone, a cat ends up in my lap. And then I get told "that cat never does that to anybody!" I must be an okay guy somehow.

I've loved reading all these! And seriously... it's a great thing to think hard and list things we are good at. I know how hard it is! Thanks to those who have so far contributed. If you haven't yet, you should.

Reece, you will all the awards for including gifs in your response. You rock.

The other day while playing disc golf with someone and failing miserably (though cheerfully) at it, I felt the need to tell the other players that I actually WAS good at other things. I mean, I don't fail miserable at everything. Just certain things that involve body coordination or brain power. So they asked me to tell them some things I was good at. And I couldn't think of anything to say. Darn it, we should all be able to answer the simple question "what are you good at?". Sooooooo...

1. Being determined
2. Raising (and working with) children
3. Conversations about deep things
4. Compassion/Empathy
5. Encouragement
6. Diplomacy/Mediation
7. Managing finances
8. Being happy
9. Bringing out the good in other people
10. Problem solving

Yeah that happens with me too, cats and dogs alike.

Over the years I've managed to get a generally good idea at what I'm good at, usually confirmed by other people in some way.

1. Keeping calm in tense situations - Very good
2. Ability to diffuse tense stand offs/ mediating - Good
3. Being a "listener" - Really good
4. Empathy - good
5. Speaking in public - Apparently really good.
6. Writing (I often write for our church bulletins and put together drama skits for our youth leader) - Good
7. Singing - It is said that when I lead a song in Men's meetings, the brothers get a sense of what it feels like to be #persecuted.
8. As your hired heavy weight goon - Lousy
9. Organisation - Good
10. eating my favourite ice cream - Well apparently I've never been great. I'm not good by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not even considered "average" (Imagine that!)

I'm a genius... Any day is sundae...
