Celebrating Halloween, is it wrong or not a big deal?

All holidays have pagan roots. So we should avoid all holidays, getting married, skip our birthdays, not wear wedding rings, and not rejoice when it's Friday.. After all, the names of the days of the week are pagan too.

You are confusing holy days with holidays.

Any day esteemed by anyone with a good conscience in the sight of God is just fine.

Now worshipping demons and false gods is not acceptable. There is nothing wrong with the way children (used to anyway) go out and trick-or-treat playing dress up.

Personally, I have always hated Halloween, and I find it truly a dumb day of the year.

As far as I have known the word holiday is from the two words holy and day. Whether it is teh same now I would not venture to state devinitely.

All days with the Lord are separate, ergo holy days. I still hate Halloween, but not for others, just for myself. I know it ain't holy.

Augmenting, not in the spirit of argument. It is written we are to be in the world but not of it. Another writing on this subject says that in order to be totally separated from this world we would have to leave it, so there you have the hint that it is impossible to have nothing to dow with this world while we are yet here. Likewis we are in the world but never of it..........sounds like a dilemna, but it is not. Trust Jesus.

No I am not. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving.. Many of the holidays have pagan origins. Even wedding rings have a pagan origin. Birthdays have a pagan origin as do the names of the days of the week..

Certain wedding traditions are indeed pagan. Yes, Jesus went to a wedding, and He even drank wine. Oh the horror of our Savior drinking alcohol!! And no, God does not bring ALL men and women together. Many marry for lust and sex, instead of true Godly love sanctioned by Him.

Christmas is Pagan too but most Christians celebrate it

When it comes to my church. They don't celebrate Christmas per say but celebrate the birth of Christ. I guess they would say Halloween has no biblical origins but Christmas is where we celebrate Jesus same for Easter so they'll focus mainly on that. Even though they and everyone knows he wasn't born Dec. 25

God's Purpose

God's purpose of Christ in us is that the world may know God as Father and be saved. Every moment of our lives is an opportunity for the world to see Jesus Christ inviting them to come closer. Going out and condemning the world for acting worldly is not God’s plan. Going unto the world and loving them unconditionally the way Christ loves us is the only way they will be drawn to God.

[Paul was doing exactly what Christ Jesus did. He became a friend to all that all might know the Lord. He didn't concern himself with having a holy reputation in the eyes of man, he literally existed in Christ's holiness.]

[Jesus compares the religious leaders to children in the marketplace who want what they want and are not satisfied with anything else. They weren't satisfied with the rough-hewn, unsophisticated John the Baptist nor with Jesus, whom they considered hedonistic and a sinner. They were blind and couldn't see past the surface of either man to the wisdom inwardly. They boasted of their own works and condemned others.]

[The only way the world will see the Father is through Jesus Christ. And the only way the world will see Jesus Christ is if he reveals himself through us. It is the work of God. It's not our own work, so none of us can boast. None of us can mimic Jesus, he reveals himself through us as we humble ourselves to him and unconditionally love others as he loves us. Whoever cannot love like that, doesn't truly know God.]

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

[Jesus didn't go around boasting of himself. He was a servant to all, a friend to everyone. Jesus generously invited people to find rest in his love. You couldn't keep the throngs away from him, people just wanted to be near him because he offered genuine love... and light... and eternal life.

Do the lost want to be near you? Are you a people person? Do folks gravitate toward you because of your genuine joy? How often do people come to you asking about Jesus? Does the world recognize Jesus Christ's love in you?]
