That is true.
I just looked it up on line and apparently Grover Cleveland, FDR, and JFK didn't win Ohio. I wonder if Ohio is typically a good cross section of American politics. Pennsylvania must be too since most candidates campaign hard there. Ohio and Pennsylvania seem to be swing states in most elections.

Gerrymandering? That's a political game the GOP is mastering better than the democrats in this day and age.
They do in your state. Would it make you feel better if the state legislature chose who got the votes? I would feel better.

This is what I was told a long time ago..
The electoral college gives more weight to states that are "higher educated" and less weight to states that are "less educated". You'll notice that the states with the highest electoral votes are the ones with big, high-tech, industrial cities and the ones with less votes are those states that are mostly agricultural (farm land). They didn't want the "lesser educated" states to have the same voting power as the "higher educated" states...
And I think it should have been abolished a long time ago... along with daylight savings time.

Since every state gets two extra votes, because they have two senators, it levels the playing field a little bit for the underpopulated states. If I lived in an underpopulated state (and I do), I would enjoy the slight advantage.
If you lived in an underpopulated state, you might enjoy the two extra votes the electoral college gives you.

Those two little votes gives an advantage to everyone no matter the size and even if you do have two extra for a little state if you are being honest you are pretty insignificant compared to the larger populated states.
Each state gets two extra votes no matter whether they are huge or tiny, and that is an advantage for a smaller state, even if not a large one. Indeed, the bigger states would never have signed onto this, had the advantage been too big.
