A simple question.

romans 7:1 "Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives?"

romans 7:4 "So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. "

galatians 2:19 ""For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God."

2 corinthians 5:14-15 "For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

acts 13:38-39 "“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you WERE NOT ABLE TO OBTAIN under the law of Moses."

romans 3:20 "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin."

We died in Gods sight with Jesus, and that ends the laws authority over the person who died, so that we may live a new Life, not as a condemned sinner trying to be good enough, but as a new, clean and forgiven Child of God. It is our responsability, to live as we are taught clearly One way of Life, leads to death, the other to eternal Life. we can obey the mosaic law until eternity and it will not bring salvation. There is only one way to eternal Life...Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God

So, Grace is just a get out of jail free card for you when you fail to live up to the demands of the Law? Naw.
It is amazing, They say we use it that whe when in reality, it is they who use it that way.

I agree! :)
I don't have in my mind that I will just always sin and that's the end of the matter.
I see that if I abide in Him I don't sin!
So I strive to completely abide and trust only in Him for everything. :)
It says if we abide in Him we don't sin.
It doesn't say if we abide in Him we will always still sin.

Sometimes it feels to me like we refuse to grab the promise in that verse and run with it because we know deep down that we plan on keeping our rights and pride and arrogance and self defense and self love...instead of giving it up.

I agree, In the times we are focused on him, We do not sin, Yet how much of our daily lifes are spent doing this (lets be honest)

to go with the flow of the op.

Does following the law keep us from sin? Or is it abiding in him?

Grace and Law or Mercy and Instructions go hand in hand...

Revelation 12:17
New American Standard Bible
So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

The Scriptures
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the commands of Yah and possessing the witness of יהושע Messiah.

King James Bible
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 14:12
Parallel Verses

The Scriptures
Rev 14:12 Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones, here are those guarding the commands of Yah and the belief of יהושע.

New American Standard Bible
Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

New International Version
This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

On the other hand, do you expect that the Grace should allow you to get the licence to sin?

Nope the law does that, When we water it down, and put ourselves above a certain level, and thus think we do not sin.

Grace says I am a sinner, Not that I can sin more.

If not then, what limits you is the law.

Nope. because no one can live according to the law only christ did. So anyone trying to live by the law and saying they are ok, have watered down the law. and excused their own sin.

We should look at it in a positive way though,

1 Peter 1:14-16 (NIV2011)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

How aere we holy, By following the law (which no one can do) or by walking in love (With Christ as our example)

I will chose the way Christ did it.. It worked. It states he had no sin.. So it must work.

are you perfect?

if not. the law condemns you.

Thats about as far as the law goes in its purpose.

Now. lets take that schoolmaster, and be led to Christ, and put this law stuff away, The law will never make anyone holy.

Nope. Grace and Law are opposed to each other at every point and cannot co-exist. It's strictly an either/or proposition. You can have Law or you can have grace, but you cannot have both. That's just the way it is.

Ephesians 2:8-9. I do not see any disagreement in how we are saved, on this point there seems to be common ground, and agreement.

However, the disagreement seems to be that when one accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, what happens next? I maintain, and have used solid Scripture to prove, that from that moment on, one allows the Holy Spirit to work in your life. Now, when this happens, I maintain that you are going to strive to please God by keeping his Commandmants. And, that those Commandments will wind up being the same as the 10 Commandments listed in Exodus.

We are not saved by attempting to keep God's Commandments, or works, but by accepting Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift. A gift is something given with nothing expected in return. If something is expected in return, then it no longer becomes a gift. Now, once you accept Christ, and the Holy Spirit is given, and you refuse to listen, you may be in trouble. Only Christ will be the judge of that.

I can can post more Bible on you, but what is the point. Only the Holy Spirit can convince us of anything.

Just ten commands. So as long as I obey these ten, I am ok, I do nt need to do anything else?

and might be in trouble? How? By losing salvation?

Paul thought it was possible to lose Salvation:

No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

New Living Translation
I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

English Standard Version
But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

Salvation is not a "prize".

It's clearly a parable... and what was Paul preaching about a literal athletic event?

ok, here are a few more:

Psalm 69:27-28, "Add iniquity to their iniquity! Let them not come into Your righteousness! May they be blotted out of The Book of Life, and not be written with the righteous!"

Revelation 3:5, "He who overcomes, the same will be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name from The Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father and before His malakim."

Exodus 32:31-33, "And Mosheh returned to יהוה and said, “Oh, these people have sinned a great sin, and have made for themselves a mighty one of gold! And now, if You would forgive their sin, but if not, please blot me out of Your book which You have written. And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I blot him out of My book."

1 Corinthians 9:27, "No, I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified."

Indeed. I believe it goes hand in hand with Act 24:16

All you need to do is allow the HolySpirt to work in your life. When you do that, you will know it. How? You will be persecuted.

Rather, you will know it because as Tozer said....

"The man who has struggled to purify himself and has had nothing but repeated failures will experience real relief when he stops tinkering with his soul and looks away to the perfect One. While he looks at Christ, the very things he has so long been trying to do will be getting done within him. It will be God working in him to will and to do."

Zecharyah 13:9, “And I shall bring the third into fire, and refine them as silver is refined, and try them as gold is tried. They shall call on My Name, and I shall answer them. I shall say, ‘This is My people,’ while they say, ‘ יהוה is my Strength.”

1 Peter/Kepha 4:12-13, "Beloved ones, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that is coming upon you, to try you, as though some unusual matter has befallen you, but as you share Messiah’s sufferings, rejoice, in order that you might rejoice exultingly at the revelation of His esteem."
