Why can we not have a adult discussion about if Thanksgiving has pagan origins or not?

Maybe it does, if so wold those who choose to celebrate it not like to know?

Maybe it does not, if not would those who don't celebrate it like to celebrate it? or feel ok about celebrating it if they already do?

and if it is pagan He would not want us doing it so.... Is this verse not important?

John 4:24 “The Most High is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth.”

I realize that the OP is just having a bit of fun and totally support him in that endeavor (DOWN WITH THANKSGIVING!) (IT WAS INVENTED BY THE PATRIARCHY)!

But Thanksgiving is probably the most Christian holiday Americans celebrate next to Easter. This is why I love it.

It celebrates the Providential deliverance of a people who fled to the ends of the earth in order to more fully apply the Word to all of life. It harkens back to the national days of Thanksgiving that would arise from time to time when our nation was delivered from the brink of crisis.

The name alone reminds us not to strive, but sit and take stock of our numerous blessings. Chief among them faith and family.

It is, hands down, my favorite holiday.

Um...nope. I'm not Jewish... I don't observe Jewish feast days and Sabbaths. We are free from that system, and if we try to go back to it... well, you should know the consequences of THAT move.

So when this event happens:

Revelation 21:1-2, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea. And I, Yahanan, saw the holy city, YHWH Shammah, coming down from YHWH out of heaven, prepared as brides adorned for their husbands. And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: Behold, the tabernacle of YHWH is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and YHWH Himself will be with them, and be their Father.

Isaiah 66:22-23, “For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me, declares יהוה, “so your seed and your name shall stand. And it shall be that from New Moon to New Moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” declares יהוה."

Will you at that time be interested in celebrating those days?

I just wanted to pop in and say thou shall not eat thy turkey for wrath awaits those who receive their fill- without brown gravy ;b

I won't argue satanic since I haven't studied it a lot but I got some things to say about it. My pastor will always say during a Thanksgiving service, we don't have to wait for a special day to tell God and our loved ones how thankful we are. Why then should I care about this day? Gluttony is a sin since many people skip church to prepare for the "big feast" they're going to have. Many churches don't even do services on that day since it's not that big of a deal. I hardly eat that much since, I like trying not to gain weight. Hanging around family I hardly see is cool that's about it.

Yes....that stuff from the "can" is right from the pit of hell. What about the extravagance of the gravy too? We have so much to be thankful for in Christ and our freedom that He gives us.

The gravy is an essential. In essentials, unity.
The jelly stuff in a can is not essential. I think it was a failed army experiment, like the slinky or playDoh, which everyone likes, and they think because we accepted them, they can keep trying to to cram the failed cranberry jelly experiment down our throats.

My error, going too fast,

in context the passage is talking about the Torah.Law/Commandments,

6And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 7in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ 8You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” 9And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! 10For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 11But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)d— 12then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, 13thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

but in that place "logion" or word is proper, thank you for the correction.

You know quoting from translations like ISR98 is kinda like being a Judaizers (is a term for Christians who insist that their co-religionists should follow the Law of Moses)

LOL so quoting from certian translations gets you catagorized?

Also common translations that replace YHWH with the Lord (6,823 times) are following rabinnical law, so.... I think the common translation is more steeped is judaisim tradition then that translation.

American Standard Version - Preface
"The change first proposed in the Appendix --- that which substitutes "Jehovah" for "LORD" and "GOD" (printed in small capitals) --- is one which will be unwelcome by many, because of the frequency and familiarity of the terms displaced. But the American Revisers, after a careful consideration, were brought to the unanimous conviction that a Jewish superstition, which regarded the Divine Name as too sacred to be uttered, ought no longer to dominate in the English or any other version of the Old Testament, as it fortunately does not in the numerous versions made by modern missionaries.

The English Revised Version - Preface
"It has been thought advisable in regard to the word "JEHOVAH" to follow the usage of the Authorised Version, and not to insert it uniformly in place of "LORD" or "GOD," which when printed in small capitals represent the words substituted by Jewish custom for the ineffable Name according to the vowel points by which it is distinguished. It will be found, therefore, that in this respect the Authorised Version has been departed from only in a few passages, in which the introduction of a proper name seemed to be required."

Brother, I'm just saying the version your are pushing puts a strong emphasis Hebrew roots, not saying its bad. But there are translations like that, that go so far as to call the new covenant a "renewed" covenant and deny the divinity of Christ. and Lord is the definition of YHWH Our God has many names here is a few of them. El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)El Elyon (The Most High God)
Adonai (Lord, Master)
Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah)
Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)
Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd)
Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)
Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)
Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)
Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)
El Olam (The Everlasting God)
Elohim (God)
Qanna (Jealous)
Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts)

Renewed is not from ISR they use new, renewed is from my own studies in the hebrew language. Also hebrew roots is just a vauge classification, I could call your doctrine catholic roots, doesnt make it true.

Scripture says the name of YHWH is not to be hidden, I beleive a name is a name, words are words. Meaning your name stays the same whereever you go, if you go to China you don't change the name on your passport. Even Chinese officials will use you name (they may pronounce it differently) but it will stay the same. However, the words for car, plane, road, etc. have a variation for each language.

I think it boinls down to comfort, anything new can be unsettling, especially when it is something as near and dear as the Most High and His word. and because of our modern customs, its eas to put up a my team vs your team vibe. Im sure I have done it before. Anyway there is only one truth, none of us will ever know 100% of every nook and crannie, but we are all on a journey guided by the Most High, different starting points, same end goal. Some are farther along the path than others. This passage comes to mind:

1 Corinthians 12:12-18, "For just as the body is a unity, but yet has many members; and though all its members are many, they are one body: so it is with Messiah. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Yahdaim or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit; For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot should say: Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say: Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the sense of smelling? But now YHWH has set the members, each one of them in the body, as it has pleased Him."

I think we all, myself included need patience and longsuffering in sincerity. Inwardly and outwardly, meaning inside us and to others, to YHWH and to man. His path, His time, His will.

YHWH is LORD they are the same word on in Hebrew other other in English, you can't know Gods name, no one on earth can. thats why HE said I AM WHO I AM! HE is more than a name and no one name can Define Him.

and if a name is a name why does Paul also still use the name Saul? there is a reason. (after Acts 13:9)

and this is from the ISR

Ok wow I honestly thought differnt. I have so many text saved on my PC I gt them mixed up. That is good to know, Im glad they used renewed. I will assure you I didnt start using the ISR on a regular basis until this year, and I have known about renewed for around 7 years, studying Psalm 89 got me on the trail and this was a key piece of truth for me:

New or Re-Newed Overview.jpg

And the fact the new/renewed is used for the moon, and it is the same moon every month not a new moon, but Psalm 89 was the biggest proof overall.

The only reason it has 3 seperate entries, is because vowel points added after 900 AD, so it is impossible for it to truly have 3 meanings, that is an invention of the Masorites. Just like "Jehovah"

Not true, see chart below.

Isayah 42:8, "I am YHWH, that is MY NAME; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."

Micahyah (Micah) 4:5, "For all people walk each in the name of his god (430 - elohim), but we will walk in the Name of YHWH (3068 - Yhvh) our Father forever and ever."

Genesis 4:26, "And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. It was then that the Name of YHWH began to be invoked again."

Yeremyah 33:2, "This is what YHWH says Who made the earth, YHWH Who formed it to establish it--YHWH is His Name:"
