it's such a waste of precious time and energy, anytime that you can see that you
are in a 'no-win-situation', a circular path of 'negativity results and ultimately,
nothing is resolved...how many times we have seen this scenario in CC.-
and the 'children of Israel wandered in the wilderness 40yrs...

when we are true servants of Jesus Christ, we have to learn and accept others
for where they are and we must also accept where our precious time and efforts
should be in our service and to be able to discern when we are going in a circle and
wasting what we could be putting forth for those who need us the most in this
wicked world...

EPH.5:15-16.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Good points

At the same time,
PROVERBS 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

The lxx translators were working about 200 years before Stephen.

Did you want to talk about
DEUTERONOMY 10:22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
We don't have the original LXX so we don't know what number was there. Bible scholars tend to change the word of God when they hit stumbling block verses like the ones in Acts and Genesis.

I'd love to talk about Deuternomy 10:22... Is there something wrong with it?

yes! Bible scholars tend to change things, true today and all through history!

the thing with Deuteronomy is it says 70 total, but acts seems to say 75.

but what I'm really interested in is whether there is always at least one perfect version of the Bible around, and how we know which one?

70 is the number of Jacob's sons and grandson no women included in that number. Acts is not talking about the 70 men, Acts is talking about all of Jacobs kin including the women.

I can't see why you and Trofimus are having such a hard time seeing this. :) I'm responding to the perfect version in another post.

I really don't know much about bible history, especially non English bible history. But no I don't think there has always been an inerrant English bible just from some of the stuff I've seen in some of the early English bibles.

That's pretty much what Psalm 12:6 says. "The words of Lord ARE pure words" but the silver (which from my studies represents the written word) will not be pure words until it has been tried 7 times in a furnace of earth. And yes the KJV does match that criteria. But let me say that that match has nothing to do with my belief that the KJV is the inerrant word. I believe in the KJV because of what I read in the KJV.

Yes, just keep on repeating that nonsense to reinforce your cults claims. I have never had a straight answer from you or any other members of your cult, I ask serious questions and get no answers.

I want an Answer for this please.

If you are using Tynsdale's Bible then that Bible is incomplete as he never finished it. So that means the Old Testament had not been refined 7 times, it must be six, which blows your claims out of the water, so i wait for the usual lengthy replies that go all over the place to justify it. Also why do you not count Wycliffe version?

it is clear that you just cherry pick a single verse take it out of context and then play with numbers to create the illusion and lie that the King James is somehow better than any other bible on the earth.

Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons;

the English word Persons includes wives... the Hebrew might not, I don't know.

which six Bibles are you counting before the kjv?

Why not read my stuff before you spew your venon lol. Where did I say the KJV or any other translation is inerrant because Psalm12 says so?

I don't know anything about Tynsdale's bible, bishops bible or any of the other old bibles.

Think things through before you post! The Old and New Testament's were given straight to the writers... that silver was pure, it didn't need any refining.

66 (or 70, depends what time Stephen talked about) men and 5 women? Really? :) Such explanation is not very plausible.

And you still did not answer why is Stephen using "another" way than the OT does and where did he get number 5. Prophecy, inspiration etc is making such explanation even less plausible.

KJV1611, John146

Can you explain to me another difference between KJV NT and KJV OT?

"And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read,
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?"

(Mt 21:16, KJV)

"Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength"
(Psalm 8:2, KJV)

LXX:
"Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou perfected praise" (Psalm 8:2)

Oh dear. So there are divisions and splits with King James Onlyists as to what the refined 7 times means.

Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons;

the English word Persons includes wives... the Hebrew might not, I don't know.

Genesis 46:26-27 KJV
All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

66 men (fathers) came WITH Jacob into Egypt. Jacob makes 67.

[27] And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
Joseph and his 2 sons were already in Egypt that makes 70. So all the souls of the house of Jacob that ever went into Egypt at any time including the ones that were born there were 70. Compare that to this:

Deuteronomy 10:22 KJV
Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Genesis calls the male members of Jacobs family "the house of Jacob"
Deuteronomy calls the male members of Jacob's family "fathers".
Fathers = the house of Jacob.
Genesis and Deuteronomy match, because they are talking about the same thing... the male members of the house of Jacob. The 70 in both of those verses is talking about house of Jacob (the fathers), not how many people made the journey down to Egypt with Jacob. Compare that to this:

Acts 7:14 KJV
Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him , and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

Joseph called Jacob and all his kindred to Egypt. These 75 souls made the journey down to Egypt.
Genesis and Dueteronomy are talking about the fathers or house of Jacob while Acts is talking about Jacob's kin folk that made the journey to Egypt with Jacob.

I'm not counting any bibles before the KJV. I'm talking about the KJV and it taking 7 years to complete.

In case you aren't aware, John146 uses this same verse, with a list of prior English Bibles, as an argument for the "purity" of the KJV. Even in your case, this the explanation given above, the argument is bogus. The reason is that the process does not match the purification of silver, for which a given amount of impure silver is repeatedly melted and de-slagged. That is not the process by which the KJV came about. If it were true of EVERY version of the Bible, and of the Scripture itself, then it would be valid. As it is, this is a metaphor, a figure of speech, to indicate that the word of God is "very pure". It does not indicate perfection, by the way, but purity adequate to any task or application... of the Scripture, not of the KJV. :)

It's not plausible to you because you still aren't understanding the two verses.

I don't know where Stephen got his number... I don't know everything. All I can say is I know Stephen didn't get it from Genesis 46 because it isn't given in Genesis 46. The 70 in Genesis 46 is the number of male members of the house of Jacob, it is not the number of Jacob's kin that made the journey with Jacob to Egypt.

The only thing that Genesis 46 gives us about how many people made the journey with Jacob is 66 males ... that's it, it doesn't mention the total number of Jacobs kin that made the journey.

Yeah I saw what John146 said but I really don't have an opinion on it. I'm not saying the verse proves the KJV is perfect nor do I believe the KJV is perfect because of that verse.

It is not in your Genesis 46 but it is in mine. That was the point.

But you can respond for example to my another question in post 1072 so that we will not get stuck in 70 vs 75 for ever :)

"perfected praise" vs "ordained strength"

And to make you happy I have found 12 other inconsistencies between KJV NT and KJV OT during that time... so speed up lol

Question to you before I answer: Did you discover this so called error through your own Bible reading? Where you reading Matthew 21:16 one day and say to yourself, "Hey, that's not what it said back in Psalm 8:2. This is an outrage!"

Or, like most Bible skeptics out to prove the Bible is not the word of God, go and google "errors in the KJV"?

Just curious...
