Gabe, how to fall asleep when I'm not sleepy?
I wish I knew. :/ Tips I've heard are:

- turn off all lights, make room dark as possible

- count sheep (backwards from 100)

- pretend its monday morning :p (I made that one up)

- drink something warm like tea, or warm milk

- take melatonin (but it takes about 2 hours to work)

- in psychology class we were taught to relax our entire bodies by closing our eyes and counting backwards slowly from 10, with 10 being fully conscious and 1 being fully relaxed and in a deep restful state. Doing that used to help me fall asleep all the time. As you count backwards, you tell yourself to relax your head and neck, your arms, your legs, etc...

Hope that helps :)

What is your outlook on the world economy for the next few years in general?
I'm always trying to stay informed about the global economy and from what I've seen I believe we are entering a period of stabilization. Growth in US and China has been slow but steady and oil prices have remained low for several months now. In fact, oil may no longer be much of a factor because OPEC has practically lost its power over oil prices that it had for decades thanks to the rise of the US fracking industry.

The big question at the moment is what is going to happen in the EU. They seem to be teetering on a financial cliff and have been for some time but just recently there has been news of big troubles happening with Deutche Bank, UBS and Credit Suisse, which are the biggest banks in the EU. There could be some kind of collapse if the governments there run out of ammunition (mainly bailout money).

If that happens, its anyone's guess what will happen globally, but in my opinion it won't make a big dent in the rest of the world's economy because the EU isn't a global powerhouse when it comes to trade. The powerhouses are US, China, Japan...But of course the EU represents millions of consumers so there would at least be a drop in global spending...

What is the weirdest animal (apart form us humans) on planet earth?
Good question! :) I think the weirdest would be the chameleon because it can change colors and patterns which is really cool and really weird at the same time! :D

Right now I would keep my money in the bank. I don't know about other stock markets but the US stock market is literally at an all-time high as of this past week.

I don't know enough to say what kind of risks there are right now in terms of the global economy but the odds are that the stock market will come back down from this all-time high so I would at least wait until it does before thinking about investing.

There are of course those "experts" who say they know where to put money now but is very risky. There was some guy who just invested his entire net worth in Tesla lol and Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla) actually told him he wouldn't let him down. I certainly don't advise doing that lol.

If/when you are ready to invest, my advice would be to find out the top performing mutual funds over the last 20 years and see which ones have the same manager at the helm for at least the last 10 years or so. If you can find one who has had the same manager for 20 years, I'd go with that one...but just be aware that mutual funds come with fees (commission, transaction fees, maybe service/maintanance fee). The fees are usually small but can add up.

That would be my best advice..

Oh and if you are already invested, now might be a good time to sell or at least take some off the table if your markets are at all-time highs like the US markets.

What advice do you have on investing/diversifying wealth?

...continued

And if/when you try to get into mutual funds they will try to get you to diversify over several types of funds like small caps, large caps, funds that focus on technology stocks, foreign stocks, utilities, etc... Those are all fine and dandy but in my opinion it doesn't matter what a stock specializes in. What matters is its performance.

And you'll want to check how your choice of fund/s (or stocks) have performed against the S&P 500 because if the S&P 500 index outperformed your best fund/stock then you might as well just buy the S&P 500 (in the form of an ETF).

* large cap just means really really big companies like Apple, 3M, Toyota - the actual definition is companies with more than $100 billion in shares or something like that. (don't quote me on that number)

* small caps are companies that don't meet the minimum worth in shares to be a large cap. They are usually big companies but not quite as big as the large caps.

What advice do you have on investing/diversifying wealth?

zero! :) (you make me happy)

don't mean to overwhelm you, but if you are old enough to recall the M&Ms slogan 'melt in your mouth; not in your hands'?

why did they say that?

yesterday my 2 yo grandson held six of them for an hour while we were swinging, and i promise you, they melted! ;)

(and next i'll ask why my iron has a permanent press setting :p)

Some people who've actually died and came back said YES, that in heaven people are doing the things they loved here on earth like art, gardening, raising animals, etc.. :) (I know it's not biblical, but the bible doesn't say much about heaven anyway)

zero! :) (you make me happy)

Thank you, Notmyown!! :D You make me happy by saying that. :D

It means that the candy shell is only melt-resistant, not melt-proof.

If you had the chance to be a famous person who would you choose to be? (other than Jesus, to avoid the sunday school answer lol)

For the longest time I wanted to be like the drummer for Rush... Neil Peart. He's not only an great drummer, but he is something of a purist in his appreciation of life and culture. He used to ride a bicycle (the kind you have to pedal)) from show to show instead of taking the tour bus like his bandmates even if it was 100 miles away because he wants to experience the journey. He also rode his motorcycle from Canada to South America one year, after his wife and daughter tragically died (one from cancer, one from an accident). And he writes beautifully. His writing inspired me to write (even though I hardly ever do it). He writes all of their lyrics and wrote a critically acclaimed memoir about his travels too..

Tai Shan (lyrics by Peart)

High on the sacred mountain
Up the seven thousand stairs
In the golden light of autumn
There was magic in the air

Clouds surrounded the summit
The wind blew strong and cold
Among the silent temples
And the writing carved in gold
Somewhere in my instincts
The primitive took hold

I stood at the top of the mountain
And China sang to me
In the peaceful haze of harvest time
A song of eternity

How is it possible for one to search for a woman yet hold the view that they are demonic shapeshifters at the same time? Oh Wise ZT please tell how to resolve this conundrum?

(Note: I don't think women are demonic shapeshifters but due to a recent hilarious thread about this posted elsewhere on CC, I thought it would be fun to ask ZT lol just as a joke so don't go all femi-nazi on me please ;)
Lol I forgot to answer this one..

It's from watching too many episodes of The Vampire Diaries...
