(of course I wouldn't say that)

I've already processed the end of those relationships for better or for worse, and some of them are fantastic guys, but no need to engage and stir anything up at this point.

My ex-husband is getting married this next week...

My problem is not knowing what to say...congratulations? Can I honestly say that when He's walked so far outside of God's will to get all that he has now?

Maybe I'll go with..."I hope you get what you deserve." That's not true either. What I hope is that he comes back in alignment with Christ and most certainly doesn't get what He deserves. My heart breaks for the state of His spiritual life right now.

My mama taught me if I don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. Also, God says don't lie. How can I say niceties if they aren't true? Meh...

I suppose saying "I'm really glad you're married so I know you *definitely* won't ask me to take you back." (even though this is 100% true) isn't really all that nice...maybe I'll just go with the nothing at all version. ;)
I agree. In this scenario silence is indeed the best approach. :)

I remember running into an ex some years back as I walked through a park during my lunch hour. hadn't seen her in some three years. Now when I had broken up it was rather acrimonious. She was in a bad place back then and did things that were hurtful & not good for the relationship. I can't help thinking of "Alexander the Copper smith" who Paul refers to in 2 Timothy here:rolleyes:. She looked much better in the park that day and, despite our history, I was glad that she seemed well. It was an awkward encounter but we hugged and exchanged pleasantries, caught up on news and then I wished her well, told her she looked great and said goodbye.

Later that day I got an email from her in which she apologized for the way she treated me when we were together. I responded that all was forgiven and that I held no resentment. I had handed the collapse of that relationship to God. So that was that. She's since emigrated and her mom and sister still stay in touch with me from time to time.

I don't swing that way, sorry...

I'm a guy, so I'd be having a lady as an ex... if I were to ever have an ex in which case I'd stay single being married to the Lord which is how Jesus says we all end up anyway since those of the resurrection are not given in marriage (Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25)

I'll probably sing.. "Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet.." Or just skip to the chorus and sing the Star Wars version..

Hello from the dark siiiiiide
I must've killed all the jediiiiii
Can't say that I'm sorry for blowing up Alderaan
We could've ruled the galaxyyyyyy
As father and sooooon.
I mean girlfriend and boyfriend.
