I'm open to reading anything. Do you want to read A Christmas Carol? If not, maybe you can suggest a book for the next read. :)

A couple of people want to read A Christmas Carol. We're reading the first stave, and will post about it Thursday. If you are interested. After we're through, I thought interested parties could post some suggestions, and we could vote for the next book to read.
 
Sounds good. Always willing to give Dickens a go and I have a copy...somewhere.

I know. Did I sound like making fun of men who don't like to read? Maybe because I'm a woman. But if a man will say it you might even laugh. Small things can become big if your perspective is clouded.
 
I didn't take your comment to be "a big thing." Just a joke. I responded in kind with another joke which would've been the same were the letters of your name blue.

It was also in keeping with my somewhat arrogant online persona.

I like your arrogant persona. Lol. It's better to make sure if its a joke or not because jokes are often misunderstood around here, even smileys don't help.

Not a fan of Dickens, but only because I have not read any of his works. I guess this could be a start. Count me in. Are you going to create a new thread? If it's not too much to ask, maybe you can mass mail us a PM reminder as well?

A Christmas Carol is a good start, but it also, to me, shares the distinction of being one of his very best stories. Dickens' weakness was his tendency to write too much because he was paid by the word. A Christmas Carol is short, succinct, and fine-tuned.

That isn't to say his other stories are not worth reading. Because they are... well many of them.
 
Hey y'all. Does anybody else think they can knock out the entire story or at least Staves I and II by Thursday?

The story is pretty short and I think the conversation would be richer.

But people are busy, so I'll understand if everybody can only do Stave I. Just an idea!
