There is such a thing as a good reality show? o_O Learn something new every day.
Actually, the first season of Survivor, many, many, many years ago, wasn't bad. They have all gone downhill since then.

True Christian? If there's a true Christian, there must be a false one as well.

But really, either you are or you aren't. What it brings to mind though is that in today's world, there are those who parade around as Christians, but are not.

Paul, Peter, Jesus warned us that this would happen. We will have false teachers, we will have false prophets, we will have false brothers among us; wolves dressed as sheep that desire to devour the flock of God.

The tares are among us and will be separated at the end, the sheep from the goats.

The OP makes me think of this scripture; comforting words from our Lord and Savior.

John 8
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

John 15:
8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.

And, here I was thinking He said we would be known by our love for one another. Live and learn, I guess.

I had to look this up, but the season with the Christian guy, Matt Elrod was the best. The season was called Redemption Island. he was sent to Exile Island for 29 days, but the amazing thing was, another contestant would be sent with him from the other tribe. So he had a couple of days to witness and tell them about God. One young guy said he knew he needed a relationship with God, and a woman was inspired by Matt to go find a church when she got off the show. It was an amazing season to watch.

Amen!

John 13:35
By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 8 describes the true Christian as continuing in the words of Jesus.
John 15 describes the true Christian as one bearing much fruit.
John 13 describes the true Christian as one who loves his brothers and sisters in the Lord.

What a great idea, we could post other scriptures that describes who the true Christians are. Continuing in John we have chapter 14 in verse 15 Jesus says, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."

John 14 describes the true Christian as obedient to the commands of Jesus.

The term "true Christian" vexes me because it's very imprecise.

There are Christians and there are the damned. If somebody disagrees with somebody else's doctrine, then there are other, better ways of identifying that difference.

Like most communication, these things are 30% words and 70% context. I'm sure someone can use the term "true Christian" in a way that actually fits the meaning they are trying to convey.

Is the man or woman who was baptized last week, but goes wrong again this coming Saturday night not a "true" Christian?

How does that term strike you? (Or any of the many other similar statements of qualification?)

Truthfully, it pretty quickly turns me off to the rest of what the person is saying or writing.
It does not turn me off.. Because i know there are many ""christians"" who are not true Christians.. It is not about them being good people or being worthy of the promises of Christ.. It is mostly to do with their not believing and trusting in the critical doctrines of Christ... Often when people hear the tern ""false Christian"" they think it is someone calling another person a bad or immoral person.. And so they turn off because they are personally offended..

I have met a lot of wonderful loving noble people who i considered as being far greater people then me and i felt ashamed that i was not as nice as them but i also believed that they where not true Christians... Because they believed in false doctrine.. I have met a few mormons and jw's who i really admired but i knew no matter how much admirable they where to my eyes they where unsaved in the eyes of my LORD Jesus Christ..

I was a male teenager between 2003 and 2009 when the show was at it's height. I'm not entirely joking!
Well it did occur to me that you were judging as a male, but I didn't want to come to that conclusion without a little more clarity. :p

Perfect example Willie. Baptism saves no one. :)

But lets say this person is a true believer.
He will continue in the words of Jesus.
He will bear much fruit.
He will love fellow believers.
He will keep the commands of Jesus.

But lets say he has a moment where he falls into sin. Jesus is our advocate and He said that if we sin, as we go before Him and confess, He's faithful and just and will forgive our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I know what your next question will be so I'll go ahead and answer it now. :)

So let's say he does it again, goes wrong (whatever wrong means) next week and again the following week, etc.

So what's a church to do? It depends on what the offense is and whether or not the person is submissive to the body of believers or not.

There's such a thing as church discipline which is actually a loving and kind act towards the believer so that he doesn't continue in a sinful lifestyle. Because we love him as a body of believers, the body will hopefully at some point extend church discipline if the sin is continuous and without repentance or the willingness to change. Each situation will be different depending on the heart of the person.

It depends on the context..... arrogance is a turn-off. But you have to label it as something.

Talk about false, true will be mentioned. Talk about fake, genuine will be mentioned. Talk about immature, mature will be mentioned. It can't be avoided, this is how we use the English language.

What we CAN do is what a true christian is supposed to do..... Find the answer in the scriptures.:)
James 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; 20for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
21Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.26If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless. 27Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

I cannot change the arrogant, but thru the grace & power of God, "I" can change.

Therefore, "I" need to get over it.

Well, one that is easy to address is a word that we have, as we have so many Biblical words, distorted. It is the word, "Holy."

It means, simply, "set aside." But, we have tried to make it out to mean "morally exceptional."
Did you mean "morally acceptable"?

No. Most of us can't accept being just, or 'only', that. We have to feel that being Holy is being an exceptionally moral person.

I believe that when God saved us he created us to do good works by His power & His authority. Now, we are more than conquers thru Him that loves us.

If we've been created to be spiritually exceptional, we have the ability to put the flesh under subjection, forcing to be morally exceptional.

To state it simply, the outside should match the inside.:)
