How does that term strike you? (Or any of the many other similar statements of qualification?)
Truthfully, it pretty quickly turns me off to the rest of what the person is saying or writing.
I agree with you Willie-T. And I would say that
pride in it's boldness and/or
sarcasm in it's subtlety can both become an extreme turn-off.
I think that all of us who
daily hope in the saving grace of Jesus Christ our Lord,
aim each day
to simply be more
like Him.
Christian, right? "
For the just shall live by faith." Sounds simple, but to die daily
is no easy task.
But I do know one thing, as much as we are encouraged in the gospel of grace, we are likewise admonished in
1Jn 4:1 to test the spirits. So I think it important,
but only as much as we are able; to bear with our "True" Christian brothers and sisters in their day of pride. For I know I've had mine and I suspect many have struggled here and there with "just a tad bit" of highmindedness or self-righteousness "in Christ" (because surely we're only boasting in Christ, right?).
It's not easy to try the spirits especially as newborn babes, but Jude makes a point to keep us in mind of this thing, "
Jud 1:3b-4 Contend for the faith once delivered to the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."
So if anyone discount your authenticity in Jesus Christ, the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved; Stand still
and know that He is God (Psa 46:10).
"
Gal 6:1-3 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such an one
in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, that not you also be tempted.
Bear you one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself."
GOD IS LOVE!
