Problem is, anyone can use freedom of speech as a weapon.....
What if the people who share child porn claim the right of "freedom of expression"?
or people who say "lkill all the <insert whoever someone hates> , i
s that OK? Is freedom of speech above all human rights?
PS: This site has rules for what can and cannot be "said, shouldn't it? Shouldn't we have moderators?
Yes and no. If my freedom of speech infringes on the freedoms of someone else, it is no longer legitimate.
Guys, there is a difference between freedom of speech and actual law. Freedom of speech doesn't govern our land. The laws do. Freedom to express your ideas is just that and nothing more. Just because I believe murder is not wrong doesn't mean I can murder and get away with it in the name of free speech. I think we often confuse free speech with the rule of law.

As as far as this site goes, yes it should have moderators and rules because it is privately owned and the owner has decided what is allowed. This site is a service we choose to sign up for. No one forces us to be a part. If the rules change and we don't like it we have the freedom to walk away.

Correct in all parts.

As for this forum, it is private property. If the owner decided he didn't want anybody discussing the color mauve, that would be his right. It would be his right to ban anybody who discussed the color mauve against the forum rule. Just because you have freedom of speech doesn't mean he is obligated to host your speech.

As for freedom of speech in general, I'm reminded of a coworker who posted on his facebook page that cops should be killed. (He was... um... reportedly a bit drunk at the time of posting.) He is free to say that if he wants. The cops didn't arrest him for it. He did get fired though, because he posted a picture of himself IN WORK UNIFORM when he said it, and my employer doesn't want that associated with the workplace.

Did he break the law when he said that? Nope. Did my workplace infringe on his right to free speech by firing him? Nope. Everything done was perfectly legal. You're free to say whatever you want, and if you want to be an idiot other people are free to call you an idiot.

Is it? or is it a video made by people who feel their "freedom of speech" includes the right to racism and sexual oriented remarks?
Yeah...it is true. I don't know how it is in other countries but in American universities, people who think conservatively have to keep their mouths shut or risk being shunned. Shunned not just by peers, but professors as well. Hence, you risk your grades. It really sucks. The video is accurate.

Also, I thought I would share this video b/c Dave Ramsey is awesome!

True about conservatives. They are getting bullied by the "tolerant" liberals.

Dave Ramsey is on the radio here every week but I thought he was just a financial advisor.

Has anyone noticed how most of the people who use a picture of themselves as their avatar are usually females under 45?

2017 was supposed to be better. It's only been 4 days, and I'm already missing $100 that apparently grew legs and walked off by itself. I guess I have wait 6 months until I have enough to finally do what I've wanted to do since I was 4.
My husband had someone offer to pay his way through an EMT training course. Nobody's going to pay for my dreams. It's always nice to feel like the talents God gave me, are less important than someone else's.

Possibly. Hadn't really noticed. Mine was on for the last few months. I'm no lady and 45 is getting smaller in my rear view mirror. Then I decided that an old pic of my cat being attacked by a mouse would be more interesting.

I think anyone who refuses to discuss the color mauve is a racist and should be arrested and put in a mauve jail cell.

What in the world? I'm watching the morning news and they start doing a story about this fat actress who posed nude (and promised to move to canada if trump won) so "everyone can see her cellulite".... so I change channels and this time they're talking about "nasty" germs in your dishwashing sponge and how you should replace it every 2 weeks (seriously?!)... so I change again and this channel's talking about breast pumps!

Under state criminal codes, which vary by state, it is an offense to knowingly utter or convey a threat to cause death or bodily harm to any person.

If I threatened to kill you you would be OK with that?

He was expressing an opinion, not an intent. Big difference. If he had said he was going to go shoot some cops, I doubt he would be anywhere except in jail by now.

I disagree.
Saying someone should be killed (or die) is a threat.

How safe would you feel if someone started saying you "should die" "should be killed" even if they didn't say "I will kill you" ?
