Keep praying for him and loving him----when we preach too much at people they only see "us" bugging them---let the Holy
Spirit do His work...
That is exactly what I'm doing :) .. I used to make the mistake of making him accept God in his life because I don't want him to burn in hell but that was like half a year ago. Since then I've told him that I'd never bother him about God and that if he wants God in his life that's a personal decision. Nowadays he's more open towards Jesus and he even sat and watched a movie about Jesus with me on his own free will. I never asked him to watch with me. My dad brought up how us humans go by "B.C. and A.D." and he said something like "Yeah, there definitely was a Christ". I think he does want God in his life but he loves his sin too much.

God has a way of making us not like sin so much---we have free will----but so does God...

I'm sorry bro I might have sounded like a jerk. To be honest the title of this thread is misleading because it was barely a debate. It was so short. They made jokes, I showed evidence, it ended. No one is commenting on that youtube thread anymore. With the help of people here on CC, the facts drove the atheists away.
Winning a debate isn't the answer to winning atheists to Christ. You could give people all the evidence in the world and if they are not willing to accept it than they will find ways not to.
People believe that God doesn't exist for reasons that are probably right or acceptable. They think God is a certain type of god, and if they are right, than no one would believe. So it isn't about proving that God exists but changing what their view of God is. If they can see God the way He really is than they would believe. Would you believe in a dictating god that chooses that some should get eternal life and others should get eternal torture?

You're right winning a debate doesn't do anything. Only the Holy Spirit can make someone believe in God. I agree with everything you say except for that last part. Yes I would believe in a dictating God that chooses some to have eternal life and some to throw in hell. That is one of the 2 main reasons why I decided to follow God in the first place.

I wouldn't serve a God out of love, if that god isn't loving. A god that is powerful, with the right to control everything he creates, but doesn't give his creation mercy and grace and choice, that's not a god that i would want to serve.

We know God isn't like that but some have these concepts blurred, and don't see things clearly.

I believe God gives us choice and judges us according to what we know. Love never forces. Out of love for God i want to serve, if it was fear of punishment or a selfish desire to gain than it is the wrong motive.

If a atheist can see a god worth falling in love with, then they have a chance. Once we fall in love with God serving Him is a blessing.

I started following God because I first just thought of him as a helper. Someone who could help me with my problems and has the power to fix them. I didn't want to suffer harsh consequences that I was getting myself into. I had no idea that God was a loving God. I didn't start obeying him out of love, I obeyed him because he commands it. I have yet to feel the real loving side of God but I do see his mercy, longsuffering, and protection. I do see how that is love in a way.

. Can you provide me the best links to articles that prove Jesus Christ's
existence and that supports the bible's claims? I'm a new Christian so I'm not good with this stuff.
First, theres no need for name calling of anyone on these forums.
Here is a few links to help support the bible, if that is what you want
to do and believe, let me know what you think, or if it helps or not.

Thanks bro! I'll definitely use that George Washington thing on them. Another Christian responded to them about the bible prophecies. This is what the atheist responded with.

"1. If predictions don't have dates attached to them, then they're likely going to happen at some point in the totality of time.example: I predict that the world will one day end. I won't say when, but it will happen some day.The prediction is silly because there's no date attached to it.
2. Just because it predicted some things doesn't make it valid, you doofus. It's a 2,000-year-old book that reflects the culture of the men that wrote it at the time (women beating, stoning, killing nonbelievers)."

What should I say back?
Jesus came and changed that culture and His Holy Spirit continues to speak to people today to show that we shouldn't stone others when we ourselves are in need of forgiveness. James says that true religion is visiting orphans and widows.

True the Bible documents the culture of its time, but also has within it messages from God. Many religious people like the Pharisees get it wrong, but God has given us the Holy Spirit to show us right and wrong. Even small children have within their hearts the Law. That is why they lie to get out of being in trouble because they know what they do is wrong or they are selfish and want to manipulate those around them to get what they want.

God teaches us to see the bigger picture and how His will for us and our lives is better than our own. How we can help others around us and keep the world fair and just and lovingm

I have found that walking with God, He has shown me that what worries and troubles me is not always that important in the larger scheme of things.

He has changed what I value and strive for, what I think is important to spend time doing and what I find joy in doing.

He has shown me that anything good and joyful can be used for His glory. I think it's great that He has blessed you with a heart that enjoys music and skateboarding...only He knows the people you can reach through those venues.

Most people will warn you and want you to be safe and not be hurt. You are new in your faith and need more study and deeper roots. A statement that is true of everyone and their walk until God calls them back to Him.

We can always learn more and become more deeply rooted in Christ. This thread has allowed many people to share resources that have helped them grow and I believe that is truly wonderful.

Your purpose might have been to show the atheist something and plant that seed, but I see that God is using this to water your heart and mind and have you grow deeper in your faith as well, you and others who may read this thread. Which I think is wonderful.

You asked earlier "how do I get God to solve all my problems?" or something like that.

I have found that God already has solved all our problems by sending Jesus to die for us and give us eternal life.

If we keep that in mind, we can look at the daily issues and put our faith and trust that God can help us deal with it.

Sometimes we feel weak and that is when we need to call on our knees and cry out to God for strength and wisdom.

I have found the most rewarding times is when God uses us as His hands and feet to answer our brothers or sisters cry for help.

I feel like I am rambling. So I will say welcome to CC and pray that you find fellowship and love here. God bless and keep you.

Strive to obey his commandments. When you do this, your doubt disappears.
I haven't found that to be true. If I examine my life and how well I obey God's law, I see how much a failure I truly am.

No I focus instead on God and His nature to love, forgive and how He teaches us His truths. I don't focus on my actions but on God and try to be more like Him. Not just obeying rules but learning how to be more loving, more patient, more gentle.

My doubt disappears when I realize how great and wonderful and loving God is and what grace is: undeserved and freely given because of Christ death on the cross.

My doubt disappears when I understand that nothing I do can make God love me more or less. He calls me His child and will never disown us. His love is greater than anything in this world.

When we truly believe and have faith in God's goodness and His love for US. When we trust God to take care of us and His promise of good things for us then doubt leaves.

I appreciate the kind words Ariel, I liked and read everything you said. I don't consider it "rambling"" by any means. You've helped me realize right now that Jesus' death did solve all my problems, that's a big reminder and helpful thing to keep in mind.

There was a great transformation in my life when the Lord led me to repent of sins I was committing.
