I started following God because I first just thought of him as a helper. Someone who could help me with my problems and has the power to fix them. I didn't want to suffer harsh consequences that I was getting myself into. I had no idea that God was a loving God. I didn't start obeying him out of love, I obeyed him because he commands it. I have yet to feel the real loving side of God but I do see his mercy, longsuffering, and protection. I do see how that is love in a way.
I have found that walking with God, He has shown me that what worries and troubles me is not always that important in the larger scheme of things.
He has changed what I value and strive for, what I think is important to spend time doing and what I find joy in doing.
He has shown me that anything good and joyful can be used for His glory. I think it's great that He has blessed you with a heart that enjoys music and skateboarding...only He knows the people you can reach through those venues.
Most people will warn you and want you to be safe and not be hurt. You are new in your faith and need more study and deeper roots. A statement that is true of everyone and their walk until God calls them back to Him.
We can always learn more and become more deeply rooted in Christ. This thread has allowed many people to share resources that have helped them grow and I believe that is truly wonderful.
Your purpose might have been to show the atheist something and plant that seed, but I see that God is using this to water your heart and mind and have you grow deeper in your faith as well, you and others who may read this thread. Which I think is wonderful.
You asked earlier "how do I get God to solve all my problems?" or something like that.
I have found that God already has solved all our problems by sending Jesus to die for us and give us eternal life.
If we keep that in mind, we can look at the daily issues and put our faith and trust that God can help us deal with it.
Sometimes we feel weak and that is when we need to call on our knees and cry out to God for strength and wisdom.
I have found the most rewarding times is when God uses us as His hands and feet to answer our brothers or sisters cry for help.
I feel like I am rambling. So I will say welcome to CC and pray that you find fellowship and love here. God bless and keep you.
