Doubtful it would help. Most people haven't read the rules or even clicked on the link below:

Rules - Christian Chat Rooms & Forums

The sticky at the top of some forum had listed an essential of faith, but I believe I read that the mods and admin want discussion and various positions on topics. Which is why they don't hold to "you must believe like me exactly or be called a heretic and banned" and this don't post a statement of faith as you ask.

This isn't a church but more a meeting place.

I believe the mods do great for unpaid volunteers.

The nature of debate is that people don't agree on the topic. Personally I believe a video or manual demonstrating what is acceptable and what is bankable might be helpful.

For example, people learning to talk about the topic and not the person.

I found this site about logical fallacies that many might benefit from learning and maybe avoid doing in the future...
Show me where I said something about banning people and labelling them heretics

my point was: People here claim "the mods have stated so - and - such subject is not allowed"
IF this is true, there should indeed be a section telling us so

Do not blame the mods for the bad behavior going on here. Saul tried that when he disobeyed God and blamed others for his disobedience ... didn't fly then and won't fly now.

To rationalize bad behavior and blame others does not result in change.

We all need to behave in a manner fitting to a child of God Almighty.

I believe he was simply saying that there are not enough mods to put out the fires. I didn't take him as blaming them.He did the job himself so he knows how hard it is.I doubt he would blame the mods.

Sticky above bdf about creating threads about hyper grace.

I believe you have misread my statement. I never accused you of anything, but was using the words of why a more detail statement of faith has not been posted, because people would feel fearful of being banned for not agreeing.

The method they use allows for freer discussion of various beliefs.

Also the point that many don't read what has already been posted.

anyone can make a sticky thread. There was no way for me to know that was something a mod wanted all to read.
As a matter of fact, MOST sticky threads are not made by mods.

Yeah, how people behave on these forums, is NOT the mod's problem. WE have to govern our own behavior. I feel sorry for Oncefallen, who yesterday, had to close at least two threads, and go through dozens of pages to see who started what. It's extremely hard, frustrating and time-consuming. Maybe WE all need to give the mods more consideration than we give ourselves. After all, they ARE volunteers, unpaid ones at that, and they constantly have to deal with tons of complaints, reports and whining on a daily basis.. So instead of berating THEM, why don't WE take it upon ourselves to do something to help make this entire site better? :)

PS, why is OK to make a thread stating it but not rules / statements of faith?
*confused*

Sticky above bdf about creating threads about hyper grace.
And yet - people still bring up the term "hyper-grace" in topics and posts despite the mods asking people not too...because of the bad behavior that ensues. I believe they will crack down on this.

It was good for awhile before some started using the term again and there wasn't the bad behavior which made it bearable in the threads.

Obviously you haven't seen it.. There already is one, which people conveniently ignore..
Yeah, cause it looks like any other thread.

I hadn't even heard of hyper grace until all these debates started , for all I know I could have been writing posts about it, as I still don't understand what it is

I may be mistaken but I always thought sticky threads, though May have been created by anyone or only made stickies (where they are always displayed at the top of the forum) by an admin or moderator.

They have information that many should read, but you do have a point, maybe they should put the sticky notes in the rules and regulation forum site also so that people know they are more official?

Maybe the mods need super super super-sized ban hammers.. lol

Blue,

I understand your "intention", that we should be more loving etc.
I completely agree.

But for clarity, I want to focus on the issue of responsibility.

Each person only has responsibility for themself.
I have no responsibility for the "forum", and neither do you... I only have responsibility for what I, alone, post on the forum.
No member here has any responsibility for what anyone else posts, or for the general condition of the forum.

Wait... maybe I'm missing someone.
Maybe there IS someone who has control over all the posts, and control over the entire forum, and thus IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WHOLE FORUM!
Who would that be?
Who would be the only person who CAN TAKE ACTION over the posts on the forum, and thus CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WHOLE FORUM?
Who would that person be?

YOU are only responsible for what YOU post.
The ADMINS are responsible for what EVERYONE POSTS.. as they have the ability to assert control over it.

You have responsibility where you have control.

The responsibility of the overall forum, IS the responsibility of the admins.
Period.

I understand Oncefallen is busy; I understand the owner is busy; I understand they don't have enough staff.
However, it still remains the responsibility of the owner (and his staff) to maintain and control the forum.
The only people with ULTIMATE CONTROL over content, and thus ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY for content, are the Admins.
I do not have control over the forum, and thus I do not have responsibility for the forum.
The admins DO have control over the forum, and thus they have responsibility for the forum.

We should each be responsible for ourselves.
But the ONLY people who are responsible for the overall forum... are the admins.
I am not about to take THEIR responsibility upon myself, and assume guilt, because sometimes the forum gets nasty and hostile.

I can remember a time the chat rooms had too many mods, 'cause I was one of them.

I find it difficult to believe that they can't find one. I suggest they start looking. Qualified people are here.

It wouldn't be an extreme view to think they're not looking for one, because such an honest person would have to do their job & clean house, not because everyone's bad, but because it's been left undone too long & the BDF's falling apart due to lack of governance.

Try running a preschool like this.....
I don't get the analogy. How do you "clean house" in a preschool?

You can put them in timeout (temporary bann) but it's pretty extreme to kick them out unless they are a danger to others or themselves.

I don't see BDF falling apart, I see people focusing on what is wrong instead of taking responsibility and doing what is right.
