What is your thought as a Christian on the use of aclochol?
Well let me just say men have warned of alcohol ever since they stumbled upon it. For all we know God may have shown Adam or somebody else how to make it. It can be used as a medicine, when used in moderation. Older people know this and will tell you that a shot of moonshine can help take the edge off of a sore throat or can be used to disinfect wounds. Those are the strong drinks that are warned about. I don't think it ever says alcohol in the Bible (at least not in my KJV) but it does mention drinks of fermentation quite often especially in the books written about and by the wisest men known in their time.
Moses wrote:
Numbers 6:3
He shall separate himself from wine and
strong drink, and shall
drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of
strong drink, neither shall he
drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
Samuel wrote:
Judges 13:3-5King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman, and said unto her,
Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
This is a foreshadowing of Jesus,
not saying it was Jesus in any way shape or form, God has sent Israel mini saviors all throughout known history. Just like Mary's cousin Elizabeth had John the Baptist before:
Luke 1
[SUP]15 [/SUP]For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
John came before Jesus and was also like a foreshadowing of Jesus but was not nearly as great, he baptized with water and Jesus does it with fire. Jesus is the greatest of all and he sits at the right hand of the Father. He is the true Big Brother, He laid down his life for his brother and was and is His and always will be his brother's keeper.
Jesus is a Nazarite: an Israelite consecrated to the service of God, under vows to
abstain from alcohol, let the hair grow, and avoid defilement by contact with corpses.
Most people know that Solomon wrote a lot about being given over to wine and drinking liquor. He also said that it was ok to drink though:
Proverbs 31:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Give
strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and
wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Let him
drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Now it's not saying go out and get all turn up because alcohol is also referred to as
spirits, any body who has ever had a black-out can tell you that they were not themselves and hardly remember any of it. They get taken over by the alcohol and are then entertaining the gods of wine and spirits instead of being pleasing to the God of all who says: jokes on you, hope it was worth it.
Thanks for the chastisement Father
Yeah I've been there more times than I'd like to admit... I would piss all over the place and I'm not ashamed to admit that because it is my experience I share with people when I used to drink like a alcoholic so they can see what happens when you give yourself over to strange God's whom you should not know.
Praise God for Sobriety and Joy that comes with knowing Jesus is the New Wine in this new age and boy am I just so happy and blessed by the best. May God bless those who bless His name and honor Him.
