I'm not really sure that's what he was thinking, though... funny stuff...

I can't imagine his mom saying, fix this problem, but everyone is pretty buzzed, so don't make the wine all that great...
Does seem odd a little :)

wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother and brothers was there. 2 Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the wedding.

1 On that day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the lake. 2 Great multitudes gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat, and sat, and all the multitude stood on the shore.

31 He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field. 32 which indeed is smaller than all seeds, But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.”
33 He spoke another parable to them. “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, until it was all leavened.”

46 While he was speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. 47 One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.” 48 But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8 He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!”

ALL of this bloviating changes nothing when it comes to the acceptable bounds found in the scripture....one day you may figure that out......just saying!
The question is: is it a greater sin to be drunk on alcohol or on ones own self righteous self important arrogant knuckelheadedness?
If a person can't write in moderation, it's certain he can't drink in moderation, either.:)

Nowhere in the Bible does it say to get drunk to uncover wisdom. As many have said in this thread, it warns against becoming drunk.

If alcohol makes you think "really deep stuff", just imagine what pouring that energy into prayer and meditation on the Word would do. When we turn to Him with a humble heart, He will not turn us away.

Sadly, you are being lied to, my brother.
Alcohol makes a person proud if they think they are thinking deep thoughts from God while drinking, getting a buzz is one thing i mean like one or two beers but any more than that and you are starting to stumble on the straight and narrow line. Think about it, one of the tests to see if a person is impaired is to make them walk a straight and narrow line... haha, learn something new everyday, that just popped in my head. See? Just like that, and I don't have to drink alcohol, I do have other habits but it's my temple and I like to burn incense in it haha... in moderation... I'm a cigarette smoker.

I smoke because I want to not because I have to, I'm not a chain smoker. God has control over me and I can quit cold turkey any day because God promises that all things are possible with Him and that if you acknowledge Him in all your ways He will direct your paths. God is not a liar, God is a doer, he speaks and things just happen! And God says He doesn't have to repent because He is the Almighty.

Can I get an AMEN?

That is a promise to every person who is a believer and has faith in Him and submit their will to Him. God gives all good things to His children even in the worst seasons of our lives.

so the other night I went to a concert at a local pub. I was with my lady friend and her two friends. The beer was flowing and we were having a great time. Along comes this guy putting his hands on my lady friends friends. He was clearly drunk. Just as I was about to say something to him, a gentleman standing next to me tapped him on the shoulder and asked the guy to leave the ladies alone. I could tell by the way the guy standing next to me carried himself that he was a MMA fighter.....maybe I just discerned that...whatever. So I asked him and he told me that he was.

So back to the drunk guy. He was clearly annoyed that this guy asked him leave the ladies alone and started getting aggressive with the MMA dude. So I politely tapped drunk dude on the shoulder and said...hey man...those ladies are taken and they just want to enjoy the concert. Speaking of that man....you should too...don't waste this moment arguing and fighting.

He was better after that but then he went full on "I love you man" to the MMA guy. I felt the need to rescue the MMA guy because he stood up for my friends. So I send to drunk dude....hey man...youre a great guy but you are invading that mans bubble and he just wants to enjoy this show. Drunk dude went on and on about how he heard me and appreciated what I had to say and blah blah blah.

The point I am trying to make is that even tho I had a little buzz going on I still walked in peace. I thought about what Jesus would do in that circumstance. Several people around the whole situation thanked me or gave me a thumbs up.

Alcohol is bad for certain people but not for everyone.

You smoke because you're an addict. So am I. Unless you have tried to do so I believe that you will find that you don't have it in you to quit cold turkey on your own. Overcoming this addiction will take an act of God and a willingness to change. I believe that you're in denial.

Alcohol could cause sin, the body is the temple of God. Satan always uses alcohol to tempt Christian. So, being far away from alcohol is a wise choice.
Well said hi stars

I beg to differ with you, but I'm not gonna ask anybody to believe me, I have quit cold turkey 3 different times in my life. You don't know me so I really don't care what you think.

I can live to be 80 smoking cigarettes and you know what I am fine with that. God knows I don't want to live to be over a hundred and if I didn't smoke cigarettes I truly believe I would. You will call this denial to and coping mechanisms or whatever, just remember you are not my psychiatrist. This is not a thread about smoking tobacco, peace.

Whatever hinders a christian's witness should be left behind, legal or not. It doesn't edify.

If my weaker brother's heart(conscious) doesn't matter..... what then does?

I used to look at the old time Pentecostals as being very legalistic because of their lifestyles. After studying the scriptures, I found out some of them really cared about how their witness would be viewed.

The modern church? Not so much. They think more about their liberties than being servants of God.

What I replied was based on what you wrote. I'm good at quitting smoking too. I've done it many times. Having quit 3 times what made you chose to start smoking again? Again, based on what you have wrote I believe that you have a serious addiction. You're still young so if you quit now for good there would probably be no lasting affects from smoking. I strongly urge you to do so.

Oh! and addiction's chains can be broken, if people don't have enough faith to believe God can break those chains through Jesus I hope someday they will...

Being an addict is not fun, I was there with cocaine when I was around 19 and those chains got broken and I have never put tried them back on.

I choose to smoke that is why I go back, I actually enjoy smoking. What else am I supposed to say? Please don't judge me I know others see it as a nasty habit and it really is just whatever to me. God gave me a free will and he takes care of me as long as I do not over indulge, bottom line. I'm out of this thread.

Of coarse addictions can be broken the server ones may need a detox center... Cocaine, weed, and a few others are mostly of the mind than physical unlike alcohol, heroine and a few others the withdraws can become so server that death can happen from stopping suddenly.

I chose to smoke also because I enjoy it but for myself that is a bad choice. I certainly do not judge you for I would also have to judge myself. Sorry that you have taken offense at my posts.

From one smoker to another -- that is a huge pile of horse manure.

I don't think smoking is a sin, so that's not the pile. That whole "in moderation," and "I smoke because I want to not because I have to, I'm not a chain smoker. God has control over me and I can quit cold turkey any day because..." is the big pile. Exact pile alcoholics and drug addicts give.

And you're going to be up a creek without a paddle one day. At 28 years old, I didn't smoke "that much" either. Now I do. And, I have tried to quit with God's help six times in the last two years. Still can't!

And smoking is slowly becoming completely illegal, so you will, one day face the problem of you can't smoke anywhere, and yet you're addicted to it, so you'll have to pay bigger bucks to buy it illegally (which then hits sinning) and hide away somewhere to smoke.

It's not a sin. But, man! You WILL pay for it!

You're 28 years old, have quit three times, so started FOUR times. Yup! Addicted!

Considering your "witness" is to always condemn everyone else, how's that going for you?
