The juggernaut of Gods judgement

Sin destroys everything it touches, but Christ cleanses and heals us of its effects.

Two smalls statements, yet this is the paradox of our spirituality and lives.
If we took seriously love and its reality worked out in righteousness, we would see
how destructive and evil sin is and want nothing to do with it.

Repentance is renouncing the sin, disowning its intent, running the other way, because
we know how bad it is, and we know the righteous judge of all will burn it all up.

Yet some want to play games, bend the concepts, excuse anything to be nice.
Let's not go back through this hamster wheel, Peter.

What are your thoughts on final judgement?

Where does it say "we didn't know we were doing good works"?

I didn't miss your point. I disagree with it and wonder if you missed my counter point.

Their surprise was that Christ were in the people they helped and they got a reward, NOT that what they did was a good work they did unknowingly.
They were unconscious of what they were actually doing including actually doing things to Christ Himself . I do agree that they intentionally did these good works but it was out of a natural flow of love - not from a duty or command. They were not consciously saying to themselves "I'm doing good works now". That was the main point to me.

I also agree that they didn't know they were doing it to Christ.

If you plan on standing before God (as it appears some here plan to do) and use YOUR righteousness to get into heaven, You will fall short. and fail.
Really?!?!

Is this jab necessary?

It's worst than watching a playground brawl. At least the kids forgive each other after 5 minutes, instead of holding into hurt and unforgiveness for over 3 years.

I am going to fix my last bottles and leave the, thread.

Then y'all can battle it out as much as you like. Gonna leave it all to God and allow Him to fix it.

Wow Grace. We so totally don't agree on this, but let's save this discussion for another thread and focus on final judgement.
Sounds good. I know sometimes the things we were taught in our church teachings can conflict sometimes. ( another one like this is John 9:1-5 - the moving of a period completely changes the traditional view of this scripture as all punctuation marks are put in by man)

Anyway you are right we can look at that another time...:)

It sounds like to me - final judgment is "final" too. Does scripture actually use that term "final judgment?" I now I was taught that in my church teachings growing up.

edit, not even worth it anymore

if people feel it is ok to let a person continue in unbelief and relying on themselves for salvation, and by his gospel lead others who may follow them to a dark place. then there is not much else I or anyone else can do.

Can we discuss the milk?

What do you know of the elementary principles?

1. foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
2. the doctrine of baptisms
3. laying on of hands
4. resurrection of the dead
5. eternal judgment.
Okay above is the list.

Below is the "bottles" ..,if you don't like them you can fix your own.

True let's refocus and summarize them.

Bottle 1: you are a sinner in need of a savior (repent)

Bottle 2: God sent Jesus Christ to die for your sins upon the Cross. he rose again on the third day and ascended into heaven. He will send His Holy Spirit to be teacher, intercessor, mediator and guide. (faith towards God)

Bottle 3: baptism is when the Holy Spirit descends on your life and washed you clean of your sins. It is when God declares you His adopted child.
Couldn't find bottle 4: laying on of hands...so I will remake it.

Bottle 4: laying on of hands can be done by any believer filled with the HOLY Spirit. It is when you touch someone and pray over them for healing or blessings from God. It is used to heal people, bless people before they begin their ministry work and basically welcome new believers into the family of God.

Bottle 5: The cross: upon the cross was nailed our savior, our sins, the old covenant laws we could not keep, our flesh. This is the dead man.

Bottle 6: Just like Jesus was resurrected from the dead, so are our spirits renewed by the Holy Spirit. We learn to listen to His guidance and grow in the fruit of walking with Him: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self control. We add to our faith, virtue, knowledge, self control, perservance, brotherly kindness and love.

That can only happen if they follow the speaker and not the Holy Spirit.

We must trust that the Holy Spirit is able to lead people out of the lies He lead us from.

Sometimes He tells us to step up and say something. Sometimes it's our pride that tells us to speak. We have to pray and ask...will this person see that my words are spoken in love?

Until the other person realizes you truly love them as God does, they will not listen to your words. Even if they are true.

It should not matter if people will hear us or not.. If we continue to allow them to speak. and not say anything, or even "like" what they say, we are enabling them.

Many people have come to god because people in love continued to expose their weakness in what they say.

I did not name names, I just stated a fact. by what people are saying, they plan on standing before God with their own righteousness. And it is sad that EVERYONE is not calling them out for that.. And it should scare us that so many are not..

This is all I will say,

We should get back to the discussion, or if you would like, just ask, I will leave. not worth getting side tract this is a very important topic (milk)

Bottle 7: final judgement is final. No second chances as we have in this life. We have two groups of people:

Those washed clean by the blood of Christ Jesus. Who walk by the leading of the Holy Spirit to be His hands and feet in this world. Who are moved in their hearts to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, visit widows, orphans and prisoners both spiritually and physically meeting the needs of others around them as our Heavenly father so blesses us with the means, time and desire to do so. These are the wheat that God will gather into His barn. They will dwell with Him in the New Jeraselum, where He will wipe away every tear. Not because they earned their place, but because the faith they had towards God. The faith in their savior to redeem them from sin and death.

The other group are the goats. Those who watch the good works done and copy the acts, thinking if they appear religious then God will allow them into heaven. Outwardly they are whitewashed, but inwardly they are tombs for dead men bones. They are not motivated by love but greed and ambition for recognition. They dress themselves as false apostles, teachers and follow false angels of light. They can even perform miracles and signs, but do it for filthy lucre and power over the masses. These God will send to the eternal hellfire to be destroyed.

What are your thoughts on final judgement?
For the beloved, final judgement is final release and justice.
It is coming home, the proving of the reality of love working in our hearts,
the freedom from lies, slander, evil, animosity, hatred, suffering.

In love there is no fear, because He has purified our hearts and made us
Holy as His Holy people, the temple of the Living God.

As for those doomed to destruction, hope has gone, the opportunity for life
was there but rejected. I think when things are resolved, we will be surprised
as to how empty things really are, and how glorious the ways of the Lord shine.

I believe in the destruction of the world, not its torture.

I believe most people know what it means to have "perseverance in doing good". However what is meant by "selfishly ambitious and does not obey the truth"?

I believe the doctrine of working for your salvation would fall under the second category because it's untrue. (legalism) also winking at blatant sin (licentiousness)

We probably could discuss it more when we move on to meat: excerising our senses to discern good and evil.
Oh! You do understand it, ariel. You have been persevering in doing good the whole time you have been in this thread. :)
You have very consistently persevered in doing good by not reviling back when reviled, by blessing those who roughly treat you and curse you as a wrongdoer, by patience, by love, by persevering in this walking in the Spirit. I have seen your weariness in places as you began to wear down under the pressing but you know what this means it is time for, and you go away to a quiet place with Him and come back refreshed.

The opposite of persevering in doing good is selfish ambition and not obeying the truth. It is to get into an argument of the flesh, the selfish ambition and goal of getting everyone to see your way and hear your way and demands over words, useless bickering over words, all of which is not being in the obedience of walking in the Spirit.

EG, you know if I see what your talking about, I call it out.

I think the difference is I don't see a "false teacher", but a new believer still learning to walk. You wouldn't beat up or lash out at a toddler for speaking in a manner that doesnt please you.

Many people have the mistaken idea that I want to be a teacher/Shepard. I have told God, I would rather be one of the sheep....all you have to do is eat grass, drink water and make wool.trust that your Shepherd will keep the wolves away and not lead you into a ditch.

Too often people make their pastors idols. They follow a man or woman and not God and His Holy Spirit.

we do not see the same thing then sis.

I see an old religious person who claims to have been saved for years, yet has been stuck in religion for years. Who states that the cross is not enough. and that we will stand in front of God with out own righteousness.

Maybe we are talking about two different people?

I believe we are just to speak what we believe about a truth and show what we believe by scriptures. Then leave it in the hands of the Lord. Let the word do it's work as we can't force people to see the truth of Christ's work.

Unless the Holy Spirit reveals Christ to all of us - we are at the mercy of our own thinking or whatever we were taught from our church teachings which may or may not be true.

Korah rebellion

Korah + others rose up against Moses - Numbers 16:1-2

"You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”
Num 16:3

In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy, and he will have that person come near him.
Num 16:4

As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions.
Num 16:31-32

And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
Num 16:35

Korah was convinced he spoke from God and challenged Moses and his authority.

God will decide such things. I leave it in His hands, for all I share is the word of the Lord
and what is on my heart.

We should always be careful to walk with an open heart and listen to the word of God,
for it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I think you missed the point that was being made. The people doing these good works didn't know they were even doing them. It is a natural flow from them - not being forced "to do things". They said..."When did we do these things as if we were doing them to you".

Of course they make a decision to help others when they do things. We do participate in what God wants to do through us - we are not robots governed by an outside force.
Of course they knew they were doing them...they just didn't know they were doing them to HIM. :)

Who is the religious person? A person who knows God or a person who wants to dictate
and reinterpret Gods word to suit their emotional needs?

Has God written His word and issues with sin and righteousness so everyone could not
understand it?

Has God laid out what righteousness actually is, but people always want to change the
terms?

Are we our hearts and what springs from them, or our beliefs and hopes?
If our hearts are corrupt and impure, what hope is there for us?

Surely Christ came to purify our hearts, cleanse our consciences, teach us to
walk in love and grace to the glory of His Name.

Surely as believers we believe a transformed believer will walk in obedience to Christ.
So let us press on toward the goal of perfection, holiness and purity in Christ.

Yes..of course they knew they were doing something.....they were not conscious of "doing good works" themsleves....not that they didn't know they were doing something. There is a difference.
