Really?!?!

Is this jab necessary?

It's worst than watching a playground brawl. At least the kids forgive each other after 5 minutes, instead of holding into hurt and unforgiveness for over 3 years.

I am going to fix my last bottles and leave the, thread.

Then y'all can battle it out as much as you like. Gonna leave it all to God and allow Him to fix it.
Are you saying you won't be changing any diapers and they can sling the contents at each other and make a mess and you aren
t going to clean it up? :)

we do not see the same thing then sis.
I see an old religious person who claims to have been saved for years, yet has been stuck in religion for years. Who states that the cross is not enough. and that we will stand in front of God with out own righteousness.
Maybe we are talking about two different people?
True I claim to walk with Jesus. True I glory in my walk with Jesus.
True, the cross is perfected by doing its work in my heart as John describes.
I stand before God as His redeemed child, because of His work not mine.
My righteousness, walk, purity, faith, love are all the work of the Holy Spirit and His word.
Should we disown the very work Christ came to do in our lives to His glory.
We are His prized possession, the very bride of Christ, the one He loves and calls worthy.

I wonder, if you have a problem with the above, do you know the work of Christ is this
world at all.

I get the feeling though people walk or claim to walk with the living God, His work seems
to have little effect on their daily lives, so surely this would make anyone pause for thought,
do I really know the King of Kings?

God always has an open door, to those who repent of their sins, humble themselves and
want to walk in righteousness. Everyday we start the same, and everyday we carry that
cross of privilege and grace to His glory.

Please brothers and sisters, tell me where I fail so that I might bring more glory to my
Kings name, so that we might press on towards to goal of our higher calling.

What I find strange is this desire to talk about good and evil is around doing good
loving things.

It gets to the point, rather than praising gifts of love, one wants to inspect them
like a quality control man, and only pass the gifts if they pass the mark.

Do we have trouble with people doing an excessive amount of good or too few doing
anything, and that which some do do, they grumble and complain so much about, it
is a wonder if they are doing more harm than good.

What brings joy to my heart is a cheerful giver, or a billionaire giving his wealth to change
to the world, literally. This is the nature of love, to see need and to give to it, understanding
it all makes a difference. Christ saw our need, and went to the cross to meet it, not counting
the cost, but valuing our lives as the most precious thing He could purchase.

Another good story is Jackie Pullinger. She was a missionary to Hong Kong. The Lord told her to go to the drug addicts there. She went under her own power and self-effort and nothing happened for over a year. She had good intentions but that wasn't enough to effect real changes. She got discouraged and then went back to England.

There she had a "Holy Spirit baptism" experience too and then she went back to Hong Kong. The Lord told her to just walk around the place and pray in tongues.

All of a sudden drug addicts were getting saved and delivered and the ministry there took off. Her book is called "Chasing the Dragon".

Very inspiring in the Lord and it illustrates the truth of this scripture below and it is another example of "trying to do good deeds in the flesh with our own self-effort" - although noble looking...they profit little.

Psalm 127:1 (NASB)
Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

You have to receive Christ first.

You do not receive Christ by saying his work was not enough. By saying we stand or fall by our own righteousness (heaven or hell) and saying one must earn their way to heaven by their works..for that is another gospel. and must be accursed (not the person, the gospel)

Sadly, I must now bow out. You can not preach about what milk is if you don't understand soured or tainted milk is inedible. even for a child of God.

These verses also jump out to me in relation to our current conversation.

Matthew 12v16-37
"But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.
I don't hazard to guess men's hearts.

All I know is what people say and thus infer what they believe. Sometimes people don't speak clearly what God tells them in their heart and need to learn how to talk. Just as babies learn to walk and talk from watching those around them.

This is a very subtle slur on people. If you do a good work consciously that is wrong,
only unconscious acts qualify.

The point Jesus is making in His parable is people consciously reached out and loved,
while others did not. It was very much a conscious act of good works, which anyone
who does them knows it takes time, effort, emotion, risk, love and money.

I never knew such behaviour could be unconscious unless you are a zombie.
I haven't read Graces post, but I want to respond here because of Peter's quote from Grace - it's something I studied yesterday inspired by another post. I feel compelled to share it knowing there will be naysayers. It's about love along with scriptures.

Whenever I think of God's love, I always think of 1 Corinthians 13 which is awesome in explaining the different actions love produces.

But when I considered Jesus' words about obedience = love, it challenged me and intrigued me.

In 1 John 5:1-3, it says that the way we know we have love for one another (God's children) is when we love God and obey His commandments.

Let that that sink in for a minute. When we love God and obey His commandments, then we will know we have love for each other.

And that got me to thinking about God's two greatest commands - love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and all your might and love your neighbor as yourself.

There's no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends. And that's what Jesus did, He laid down His love for His friends. And Jesus called us His friends if we do what He commands us to do.

And then my eyes fixed on the cross. There's no greater love than the cross. So how do I define love or what s the essence of God's love?

Jesus obeyed the will of His father - shed His blood for our sins that we would have forgiveness, that our relationship with God would be restored, that we would be saved and live eternally with Him and with one another.

The cross of Jesus is love in action through obedience reaching out to a lost world, His hand stretching towards ours that draws each and every one of us up out of the miry pit of sin's iniquity, inviting us to be crucified with Christ, baptized in His death and raised to new life in Him. Glory Hallelujah - Jesus set us free and filled us with His love!

John 14:15
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

John 14:21-24
He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

John 15:9-14
Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you.

1 John 5:1-3
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

2John 1:6
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

We need to remember they are different judgments though.

The believer is judged for their works, to see what (if any) reward they will receive.

The unbeliever is judged for his work, and found lacking, and sentenced to the second death.
Amen, Eternally Grateful!

It should not matter if people will hear us or not.. If we continue to allow them to speak. and not say anything, or even "like" what they say, we are enabling them.

Many people have come to god because people in love continued to expose their weakness in what they say.

I did not name names, I just stated a fact. by what people are saying, they plan on standing before God with their own righteousness. And it is sad that EVERYONE is not calling them out for that.. And it should scare us that so many are not..

This is all I will say,

We should get back to the discussion, or if you would like, just ask, I will leave. not worth getting side tract this is a very important topic (milk)
Eternally Grateful, we love you. We appreciate your wisdom and your comments. Let your words be seasoned with salt, bringing grace to the hearers. It sounds like maybe you've been hurt and want to hurt back. If not, forget/forgive my comment. :)

But sometimes we don't have the wider picture or the wider view. You, me, Ariel, Peter, Stunned and the rest won't have all of the truth. We need one another, even if it means iron
sharpening iron at times.

What I do want to clarify about deeds, works is the fact that the true faith in Christ does work and do deeds. The type of faith that God seeks is # 1 love for God and love for others. Within that package of faith is obedience. In obedience we will have many works and those works will be judged as to the genuine of our faith.

Grace 777 your story about Jackie Pullinger does not make sense, it sounds like many of the stories that Pentecostals spread around in order to promote Pentecostalism. If she was a Holy Spirit indwelt believer and went to Hong Kong because God actually instructed her to, then how could she be doing it "under her own power and self effort"? That is like saying that God sent Jonah to Nineveh but Jonah went under his own mandate. Does that make sense? Then she comes back and has this 2nd baptism in the Spirit(first was when she got saved) and now the people are falling all over themselves to get saved...typical Pentecostal propaganda.

She let the Lord build the house in Hong Kong and in the way that He wanted it done - not by her own way. This can be a stumbling block to many of us. This offends our natural humanistic reasoning and man's wisdom.

It is not by might nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord.

Hi Ariel,

We all need to encourage one another while it's called today! :)

Please don't leave out of frustration and anger. Continue and persevere knowing there will be naysayers. Put them on ignore if they're not being helpful and actually rude, unloving or unkind.

I'm enjoying this thread, it's something I look forward to. We're actually discussing God's word in the BSF with some mudslinging, but not as bad as so many of them. It's refreshing, especially since I've begun an ignore list. What they say doesn't bother me at all because I can't hear them. :)

Hosea 6:3
“So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord.
His going forth is as certain as the dawn;
And He will come to us like the rain,
Like the spring rain watering the earth.”

there will always be a few who will spew out the True even though they know
that many times it will be of no use, for so many can always seem to come up
with an excuse for their behavior...but, the True will not waver from true speaking
for we must always be seeking favor with God, even while the assembly nods
their heads in disapproval and sometimes will even call for removal and try
to shame...
so, they blame the Truth Speakers and those who Love their Saviour - they try and
find fault and vault themselves to an higher position...
but, for Jesus' position, His flock will hold fast, for their bast is quite thick and they know that
so many congregations are sick...
those who Love in purity will never try to trick with false words, but so many of the flocks
will only hear the absurd and foolish, they are mulish indeed...

we have found that speaking Truth and Love is not very popular, but man's traditions are
prevailing in these last-times...

I haven't left. I just don't plan to post on this really long thread anymore, but everyone is free to.

I started three threads today (don't know what I was thinking, one thread took a while)

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...ing-spiritual-discernment-licentiousness.html

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...-learning-spiritual-discernment-legalism.html

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...ilk-hopefully-wont-choke-baby-christians.html

I will probably focus on one thread at a time. For some reason the two extremes tend to want to battle it out, but the gospel isn't found in either.

The cross of Jesus is love in action through obedience reaching out to a lost world

Head knowledge and heart reality.

I grew up in an emotionally closed off family, tactile expressions of love rarely happened
and everything was closed off. The closed of state was the way you lived.

I feel in love with Christ, His seed deep in my soul, but it was like something buried, but
somehow I could not let it out. I would argue, share, do lots of things, but still a wall
remained around me.

I feel for a young lady, and we started going out. For the first time my love was being
expressed outwardly, and I started to become tactile. People who knew me almost jumped.
I felt at the time, though I knew Christ loved me, it still had not penetrated deep into my soul.

Now I am very different, but I cannot quite say how because like a child, you are the same, but
more so. What I see is when I say "I love Jesus" that can be trite or the most profound statement
in the universe. And there we have our problem.

Peter failed Jesus, and Jesus made the point "Do you love me?", to the point Peter was hurt.
But days before he had denied His Lord after boasting such commitment. Our inner life is often
difficult to see, because it is who we are.

So when people jump to simple conclusions about others, it is often wrong, and often it does not
matter unless you can help them on their walk with our Lord. How far are we, we do not know,
or how long it is till we meet Him face to face, on that glorious Day.

If I can encourage you to dwell and spend more time praising and spending time with Him and
your family in the faith, please do this, for this is real eternity, and we loose nothing in this effort,
Halleluyah. I am staggard at how He leads, and the doors He opens in our hearts, so let us press
on in this glorious inheritence He has given us.
