I for one am still virgin because I love God/Christ and respect myself (and because of my moral compass). Also because I'm not married.
 
I'm a virgin myself, and proud of it. I would totally prefer that the man I marry be a virgin too. I think it would be the ultimate gift for both him and her to lose their virginity to each other.

I lost my virginity at 14....

I am humiliated by it.

I am soooo youuung. &&& not being a virgin haas given alot of peoplee the wronnng impressionnn.

been waiting 30 years now, and i've had opportunities...lost dating relationships because of it, even....so it is not something within the relationship that i will compromise...

that said, i am not God, so who am i to judge someone's past? obviously safety in testing would come into play, but i worry more about who she is with me going forward than what her past was....

Honestly I really hate this subject. Seriously, I dont want to marry anyone who isn't willing to forgive my mistakes or feels like I was less of a Christian or desireable by having my virginity taken away.

I'm sorry all of you virgins suffer because you haven't had sex, haven't gotten the dates, had to explain to others why you've been untainted by the overly sexed society, or get funny looks at work.

HOWEVER, I'm even more sorry for the Christians who were strong-armed into having sex, raped, were too young to comprehend it's destruction outside of marriage, were ashamed about the act, had a past without Jesus, or simply are judged by other Christians because they sinned.

If you want to base your whole relationship on my past sexual mistakes (which by the grace of God are completely forgiven) you dont deserve the newer, Christ-fearing me. This woman is made of sterner stuff and is so much more than that.

If I were a virgin, I would absolutely want a virgin wife. Not that I don't want one now, but I don't feel like I can demand that she be a virgin. If I start seeing a girl that is a virgin, and she decides she doesn't want to take things further because I'm not, I would totally understand and would hope that she would find someone who had the wisdom to wait.

I am not a virgin and I dare not expect my future wife to be. But, I don't think I would want her to be either. I can't really explain why.

I would prefer someone without children however, but if she is a super-Godly woman then I could go for it (I don't have kids).

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. ~1 Timothy 4:12~

Your purity can be renewed if you ask God. And just because you are young doesn't mean you haven't learned from your mistakes. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

To me, and I know you directed this question to guys, it isn't about being a virgin or not. We all mistakes and have pasts. I will be 23 next week and I am a virgin. One of the good motivating reasons for me remaining a virgin until I marry is that I would never want to have to tell my future husband my sexual past. I don't expect God to bring a man into my life that is a virgin necessarily, but I know that the conversation about his sexual past will be very painful for me if he is not. Its a respect thing to me as well. I am waiting out of respect for my future husband. And I have no place giving any part of my heart to anyone other than God and my future husband. That takes away from the beauty of marriage.
 
Some excellent posts here. I am a virgin as well, and I do believe that you should wait to get married. However, people make mistakes sometimes, and there are those times when we face circumstances beyond our control, as Dread mentioned above. That being said, while it would be nice to marry a virgin, it is not a requirement for me, and not something I would hold against the other person. If marrying a virgin is your desire, then they are still out there (as this thread proves). But studies have been done, and statistics show that the majority of the generation that has just reached their 20's are/will not be virgins by the time they marry (over 90%). We live in an oversexed culture, and the pressure to try it is intense. It's made out that it's not a big deal, when in reality it IS a big deal. I've never tried drugs, either, but that's something else I wouldn't hold against a person. My last (and only) boyfriend is a recovering alcoholic and used drugs. But he cleaned up his life, turned it around, and he genuinely loves God. I would have never imagined myself before dating someone with his kind of background, but I'm glad I did. We didn't click, didn't have much in common, so we did break up, but we are still friends. I also hope that it let him know that not everyone will spurn him because of his background. He is a true gentleman, and passionate about God. Just one of many examples why it's bad to judge based solely on one's past actions and mistakes. If God doesn't hold it against someone, neither should we. Just my two cents, whatever they're worth. :)
 
I'm impressed with all the virgins there are on the internet. Is that really a surprise? That's a joke, for you serious people ;).
