The difficulty of finding a Christian girlfriend.

Good morning, my name is Jake and I'm posting this question to see how others are doing regarding this around the world.

I'm 27 now and I've been involved in open air evangelism and worship ministry for years. At my local church there are no men or women of my age for fellowship and none especially single. Youngest is 36 and married and the next one up is 50. So I don't have fellowship with people my age at all, there's just certain stuff you can't talk about!

I'm not particularly desperate for a girlfriend because I know God has someone for me or not but yes for fellowship and friendship with people my age. I have to put some effort into making myself known to other young people.

I've tried going to other Bible believing churches and there are no people 18-30 years. They go to uni and become atheist or disapear of the globe. I've tried many churches and they are all empty. The only one I've seen many young people, but from the conversations I've had its people turning up for the loud music is Hillsong. It's a shame.

I would like to ask if there are others in the same boat. And if you'd like to have a chat sometime for fellowship, please drop me a PM. Love meeting new people, and if you're from Texas we definitely need to chat as I'm planing vacation there and need to know what's best to visit!

On the joking side, is it true that in Texas the churches are full of gals but no cowboys. If so, I've tried my local churches with no luck but have not tried Texas.

Dunno about Texas, but in Tennessee it's about evenly mixed between guys and gals. Dunno about other churches, but in my church there's a good representation of all age groups.

In other words I don't have anything useful to contribute to this thread because I don't have any experience with this problem, and I wasted a whole post to say I don't have anything useful to contribute. Sorry bout that.

as for me, at my church, we didn't have a ministry for people around my age and single. most of us were involved in other ministries (sunday school, music, youth), and because we were involved with these, we didn't have time to "go out there" to meet people lol.

there are a few texans on this site. where are some places you have in mind?
 
It sad to say that churches doesnt has guys and girls nowdays disappear from "church" or they claimed "they are busy with work etc. I grew up in Hawaii, and I was a worship leader in the church we attend, I lead also our youth ministry, and it a battle to find people our ages in the mist of the church circle. . .but I believe, so many are just lost, hurting and all we can do those we're still here is find them and share the love of Jesus pray for them..

A girl can have the same difficulty finding a Christian guy.
 
Im living right here in Toronto Canada and have the exact same issue. My mother and I have been praying for a husband for me for years.
 
That's the key. Prayer. Patience. Perseverance. The 3 P's to marital elation.
Finding someone to date or even marry is not really all that hard for most people.
Its finding someone that is a good lifetime match that God (and your Christian parents) approve of that is a challenge.
 
I'm thinking of landing at Dallas Fort Worth and visiting Dallas and then go from there. I definitely would like to visit Houston Space Centre. Anybody know a good place for country line dancing?
 
I from Texas and here I have notice something similar when it comes to finding people my age. My old church had a decent group of singles but most of them were in relationships. Other churches I have been to have a mixture of older church goers (40-60) and you have your high school crowd and children.
 
I was part of a church in KC and at that time not many peers or singles. Years later, the church had a "growth" and all kinds of ppl in their 30's and single gals. Of course by that time I moved on :-( so you never know!
 
Jake, you might try expanding your social circles. You could enroll in an adult education class, take a yoga class at the YMCA, or join a reading group at the library. As for finding a like minded person of faith, you might consider someone who isn't necessarily a Christian, but is open minded about God. My wife wasn't a Christian when we first met. But early on I told her about my faith, and asked her if she would consider becoming a Christian. She did. And a while back she took the job of church secretary at our church. We are raising our son in the faith. I hope you too are able to meet someone to share your journey in life with.

Same with me but, it doesn't matter. Yes you don't have a relationship right now, but you have more time for other stuff :) working, doing a degree, etc. whatever you do, you have more time on your hands to build a successful future and a successful life for yourself :) don't worry about dating and girls, one will come into your life when it happens and if it doesn't, who cares? You just gotta live life and be happy with yourself before anything :)
 
I know this thread is a little old but I'm in a similar boat; it's so hard to find a man of faith these days! Every guy I know is either an atheist or is really disrespectful of my beliefs and thinks they're a joke.

I'm staying confident that God is waiting to guide the right person to me at the right time but I know it can be exasperating to wait sometimes haha! We just have to persevere, hey? :)

I didn't meet my Husband at church but I think it's a shame that there aren't more meeting opportunities for younger people to meet at church. I kind of wonder how a church would feel if one of their younger members wanted to start a group or something?

That's going to vary a lot from one fellowship to the next. I know at many of the churches that I've attended if someone were to go to church leadership with an idea about a new ministry they most likely would hear, "well it sounds as if God has placed a burden on your heart to fill that void."

Yeah, I remember when both Sunday school teachers at my church decided one year that they were going to be done at the end of the school year and I wondered what we were going to do. I suddenly just thought to myself, I'll do it, so I did and a few years later I still am. I admit at first I thought I'm not good enough for this, but over these last 3 years God has shown me a path and I enjoy it. I'm learning a lot too. I hope eventually I get another person who steps up and says, I'd like to give this a try. I'd love for someone else to be part of the process too.
