My Husband and I saw the movie Manchester By The Sea today. If you want to leave a movie feeling horribly depressed, then this is the movie for you!
Sorry i I posted this in the wrong place. Back to your regularly scheduled program.
Please, Fenner, go ahead and post again.

Your post was 10 times more amusing than the berating of women that's going on in these "Mistakes You Lousy Women Are All Making" threads.

It doesn't matter if it's your fault or not, Mel.

You're the one who's getting married, so you're obviously doing something right.

In fact, I think it should be YOU writing the threads giving dating advice...

At least you have solid proof of what you're talking about. (As in, that rock on your finger... and the wedding invitations you've sent out.)

Mistake #6 would be taking dating advice from a single French dude. Haha. Its really funny...

He is European. I'm sure he is aware of 'Dutch directness'.

List of dating mistakes that should be avoided by the Christian woman

(#5)Confidence that your humility and good heart alone will get you a true Christian

This is probably the "mistake" that occurs the most with Christian women. So as a Christian woman, you have a good heart, you are humble, you believe in doing good, you love your neighbor and you practise your faith. Therefore you believe that the world will automatically reward you for your goodness with a true Christian man coming your way. But you will be wrong because people like you are few in the world and because some things need fighting for and a good partner is one of those things. Most of the time the world will repay your good with bad. Getting a partner is like getting a job, if you want to get a job, will you just sit down and wait for the job to come to you? You have to fight for the job by leaving your house to apply and submit your resume. Similarly, you have to come out to fight, search for and find one of those very few true men. David prayed before going to the battlefield, he prayed but he still had to fight with swords for victory and similarly you also have to still fight for a true Christian husband.
Getting a true Christian husband is a war you have to fight and not an automatic reward for being humble and for being a good person.
This is a good point. You can't catch a keeper if you ain't even seeking. You can't catch fish if you don't throw your line in the water. I'd say this could apply to men as well as women.

This might be the solution to all our problems. Maybe, instead of everyone blaming each other, we should do what Jesus said. Go and preach and make disciples. More Christians, a partner for everyone. You wouldn't have to go fishing if the fishmonger has all the fish in the shop right?

Ooooh now there's an excellent thought and analogy!
