People killing themselves if often about hopelessness and depression.
All I have ever seen help this is love and honesty.
The world is full of uncaring sinners hurting and destroying others.
Saying those who walk in Jesus's ways are guilty of this is absurd.
Often in families lack of emotional openness and honesty causes deep pain
and rejection. One step along this path, is people sharing who and what
they are. This only works in the framework of the cross and forgiveness.
Now I know this works, because in my little family we are very open and
honest, loving and caring. But it is not easy, but there is real life here in
the Lord.
As an ex-depressive from an emotionally closed hidden family with serious
mental problems I know the other side of the coin first hand.
And I know in Christ there is love and healing, but we need to open the door
and ask Him in.
I am not generalising here but I do think there can be a tendency within the Church to dismiss mental health issues and the reasons why and the consequences.
Some Christians say "Go to your doctor and get anti-depressants, some say bible says now go do"
When I say bible says now go do they quote bible verses along the lines of you lack faith, trust God etc.
Anti-depressants just mask the problem and now go do just add to the problem.
Mental health issues today are real, they affect people, they react in ways that are not rational. This is the same for Christians and non Christians.
We need a place in the church where those suffering can come to and feel safe, loved and accepted. We need the wisdom of God in how to deal with them.
Pills don't worn, bible says now go don't work.
Jesus works, when people meet Jesus and know there is hope in his name, acceptance as they are, forgiveness and knowing that Jesus is in the pit they are in but will help them out of it, he understands it.
"My God my God why have you foresaken me" "Father please let this cup pass me by"
A man in turmoil and emotions troubled.
