Works? Jesus said, Let your shine before men, that they me see your good works, Matthew 5.16.
In Matthew 5 Jesus said those followers who assisted, helped other followers had done good, for in serving other followers, it was as unto the Lord, Matthew 25.40.
So if I love God and show that love to other believers by helping them in their struggles, in their sorrows, with their needs - are those bad works? They won't save me. But does that mean they are bad?
2 Timothy 3.17 tells us the scriptures furnish us unto every good work.
Showing love in the name of Jesus to others is not bad, those acts of love are not bad, they are not something to be discarded.
I read where someone said our works are filthy rags. I just don't understand how that is.
Knowing me, I probably goofed up somewhere.
I was just about to reference 1 Corinthians 13. Then I remembered what Paul said in verses 1-3. That explains it. Our works are of no profit if not done out of love. Their true worth, they are good, because they are an expression of our love for God and others.
The widows two mites had far less monetary value than those who gave much more. The value wasn't in the currency, the value - the good - was from the heart.
So I answered my own question.
Thank you.
