Before I go too far with this post, I wonder if it is allowed to mention the names of people who have written books or who have a testimony about hell, for example Bill Wiese? If it is not allowed to mention names I will stop there. I think another one was Mary Baxter. I would like to discuss this subject and some of the people who have spoken on this subject...but only if it is allowed in this forum.
I don't know the answer to your question.

Hell? I believe that is the situation we create for ourselves when we sin. It is what our lives turn into. "Lake of fire" is a good description of it. There is no escaping it - once you sin you have to live with the consequences of your sin. Well, there is a way out - the saving grace of Jesus.

There are accounts of people being taken to Hell given personal warnings & told to warn others. If you are sceptical about it that's your choice however if you proclaim it as false & in fact God did give them those visions then you are reliable to be judged. Not to mention the devil cannot give people visions nor take them anywhere spiritually.
So we're just supposed to take it at face value when someone says "God told me such and such"? Personally, I think anyone that uses that phrase or anything even remotely resembling it, is a manipulative control freak who has some other issues going on....unless it has only to do with them and doesn't affect anyone else at all.

It's up to the individual to believe it or not. If what the person is saying lines up with scripture then you can judge from there. There are people who believe God stopped giving people visions & that's not the case. He even said himself he will pour down his spirit & give people dreams & visions.

There is a place in my town where you can sit up high and view the city. When I was younger I was working the night shift and after would go sit up there after work while it was still dark. One morning I literally saw the whole town destroyed to a pile of rubble. What did it mean? Was it from God? Does that vision line up with scripture? It might....but one can never be sure as long as we are down here. The quickest way to lose my respect is to tell me that God told you something about me.

What would the purpose be of God giving people revelations about hell, when the Bible told us all we need to know about it,it is dark and hot,and the wicked will be sent there,is not that enough to convince people to fear God and follow Him to escape it.

Mary Baxter's description of hell is ridiculous like it is a scene depicting a haunted house.

What detail could they see for the wicked that go there are cast in to outer darkness, they will not even see hell, they will not see anything, and why warn the world when it is in the Bible. Why give a revelation of heaven when it is already in the Bible, and that should cover it.

If they do not hear the word of God they will not believe even if one rose from the dead and told them.

I do believe God will give people revelations, but not of hell for the Bible tells us all there is to know about it,it is dark and hot.

There is only one way to find out. In fact the best thing to do when this happens is to pray and ask God if it was from him. Plus, it doesnt hurt to pray and I have also gotten in the habit when I get prayed for I pray that God protects my mind and heart from things they may say are not from him unless i totally trust that person praying over me :)

Exactly right...all revelations have been given. The bible says very explicitly not to add to it.

It could possible be from God, people have said they had open eye visions. As far as destruction i've heard many people say they saw nuclear war visions. God tend to warn his people before something major happens so only time will tell. As far as someone saying God told them about you if it was a warning of some sort I wouldn't advise to just to automatically brush that off.

Hell is when and where you are forever observing the joy of an eternal party that you were invited to, but that you permanently declined to attend.

...and yet that's not the end!

It goes somewhere.

What happens next?

See this is where you folks fail.

You think that's the 'end of the story'?

NO!

Those that are cast into the Lake go THROUGH IT.

There is a bunch of stuff that happens after the Lake people.

Quit parroting you Pastors and GET READING!
.... and what exactly happens after? my bible stops at revelation 22 o_O

Obviously there are some folks in here that seem to have no fear of hell so I have a question. Who in here believes in a literal hell as in a place of torment for the lost?
I believe it is real, but I don't believe anybody who claims to have been there! Special not if they use it to make money.

If the story of Bill Wiese is true or not each person has to decide, I believe that it is true, do I absolutely know that it is true, of course not. How do I know that the book of Revelation is true? It is all the story of one man. did anyone else see it? I believe in God and therefore I believe that Revelation is the word of God, however I have to take the word of John. What I am saying is that people tell true stories and people tell false stories, may God grant us the wisdom to know the difference. The idea that God would not do with Bill Wiese what Bill Wiese said that God did because it is not scriptural, is false. God will not violate His word, but that does not mean that God cannot use other Christians for a testimony to the church. Hell is real, one man was shown that world wide, only two and one half percent of the human population is making it into heaven. Huge numbers of humans are descending into hell every day. Any person who is now saved was actually headed for hell at one time in their life, those who are not really saved are still headed that way.

nah. I'm a human just like you. I have love in my heart. I have family and friends that I love. I have things that hurt my heart. I have joy and I have pain. Too bad you discount the humanity in another person who feels just like you do. Your attitude toward me is very worldly.

Fear is the beginning of wisdom. Don't rest there. Move to apprehend His great love for you. He died for you out of His great love for you. Perfect love casts out fear
Did he actually die FOR us or did He die to atone for sin? The Bible says God is love but he has other attributes as well and one of them is being all just. We as believers are told; Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.”
But we are also told; “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!

Remember that Jesus doesn't dialogue much with sinners in the Bible. Just enough to warn them but unless they believe that and move on from there they cannot come to the full knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ.

I have a question for those who would dare to answer. At one time in your life, before you came to God through Jesus Christ, were you headed for hell? A simple yes or no will suffice.

Of course, but this site will not allow you to answer just yes or no.

Nobody can for shure give a yes ore no! When the first time i heated that I need I rejectet Him. I think I was 18.Seven years later he opens my eyes for my sin and I repent and believed in Him and His word. Before that i had not even heared that i can be headed for hell. But all who not believe as consequence are headed for hell. So long somebody is alive there is hope that he will turn to Christ. So if you met me when I was 18 you would think i am headed for hell, because I rejected Jesus. But thanks God he was mercyful with me!
