There is already something in place acting as a barrier to try to help keep illegals out, so the idea is certainly not new, and in fact, twenty two years ago Clinton got a standing ovation for speaking about taking more aggressive measures to keep illegals out, and deporting them when necessary etc etc ad nauseum, so what has really changed? Oh, besides the fact that you probably have over twenty million more illegals in your country since then... Would you support just allowing what is already in place to just fall into complete disrepair to the point of total uselessness?
WE could just invite Mexico to become part of the US.

Then we wouldn't need a wall.

Just steal more land from them, like in the past. You don't need the whole country :)

Well, realistically, it was stubborn Republicans who forced Obama into going around congress with all his EO's, just like Trump is doing.

That is one of the biggest reasons the swamp of DC needs to be drained of most politicians.

There honestly is little difference between ANY brand of career politicians.
We vote every 2 years for congress and every 4 years for pres.

people vote their congressmen into office

It's the Americans who vote THEIR rep's into office

If you want to drain the swamp, it's up to the voters to do it.

Each person runs in their own district, local people vote for them.

Many rep's are newly elected, new to Washington.

when you criticize the whole group as "career politicians" it's not fair.

It seems like when you say to drain the swamp, you mean get rid of only the people who disagree with you.
I know it must be hard for you, but try sticking to things ACTUALLY written. LOL

But think of the money that we'll save by not building the wall.

And our friends in Mexico will have freedom and security.

Think of the profits and jobs that it will bring.

No, you are looking at it wrong. You want the good land but not all those millions and millions of people who will only be a burden on the tax payer. You certainly don't want the millions of people in the slum of Mexico city. Just take the land directly beneath your country, something like this map shows:

Most politician are voted into office.

It's the voters fault, if they keep electing the same people.

Washington changes every 2 years.

They aren't the same people as 10 years ago, or even 6 mos. ago.

Does that make a difference to you?

I DO want the people.

Let them come, the tired, poor, and hungry.

There, by the grace of God, go I.

Tell me. Which laws am I able to break without consequence?

Why would you encourage people to break the law and become criminals?

None, but I do have 3 people staying with me that I am helping.

You see, I remember when the border with Mexico was just a drive through a checkpoint.

1,000 of people came to the U.S. to help harvest the crops.

They are just people like you and I.

The image in the mind, that has been put there by prejudice, supremacists, and haters, is distorted.

(we could invite Canada to join the USA, but I don't know if I want "those kind of people" in my country, I heard that some even speak French, how evil is that? ha ha)

How would they be criminals if there were open borders?

I'm kind of a "wait and see" person. Throwing conjecture around of what Trump will or will not do doesn't really help, in fact I think it devides us just a little bit more each time.
I would love a wall on our southern border with a beautiful door and I think it's a wonderful idea to finally have those horrible criminals actually paying for something. I also like that Trump is using the Capitalist freemarket system to come up with people to design and build the wall.
I guess I can say that I am cautiously optimistic. No worries, I still have my pessimisms. lol

Yeah, Canadians have not been openly welcome in your country since 911, as if we were terrorists :p

Yes, my point exactly.

We have had many people in Florida do some bad things, but you don't hear people saying to build a wall to separate Fla. from the rest of the nation.

And when people in Colorado do some things, we don't here people saying that we should ban people from Colo. from entering the rest of the nation.

People are good and bad in every part of the world.

The fear mongers are working hard to divide us, make us fear our neighbors.

Maybe they try the racial divide, or the gender divide, or the national divide.

--

I believe that there are things to fear.

But what if we go to war?

Who will we count on as allies?

Will we say to the good people of Mexico, "don't help us, you're too evil"?

Or will we change our attitude and say, "help us friends"?

I think that we should be the BEST of friends NOW!

I love the people of Mexico and Canada.

But the haters are in power now.

Does that explain them blocking everything else, too?

The Republicans said they did not want that judge. That is understandable and rational. The Democrats have openly said "We will oppose anything and everything Trump proposes........ we don't care WHAT it is.... simply because it is something Trump may introduce."
Republicans did the same to Obama. How soon people forget.

Currently, there are no open borders. So they CHOOSE to be criminals. Also, check out how brutal and stringent Mexico is on IT'S southern border.

If I was in Mexico and had a chance to get to America, I would take it. You would too.

My great great grandfather jumped a ship from Germany years ago, illegally.

I would do the same.

The people who are stoking the fires of division and hate are merciless.

This situation was created years ago and has been enabled by people like ISIS, white supremacists, Nazi's, the creators of fear, "terrorists", bringing fear to a loving people and nations.

When we fear, they win. Love overcomes evil.

I don't think most Americans are against immigration. But why is it that Democrats almost ALL seem to be against doing a better job of vetting those wanting to come here? That is the HUGE thing I totally can't understand.

LOL oh my, where to begin? You seem to be against borders altogether, and I must say that your naive idealism is a recipe for complete disaster. Thank God there are people working to keep your country safe. Do you know that as we speak, the UN is working to take away your rights to free speech? Better look out. While they are chipping away at your hard won freedoms, all of Mexico comprises very close to one half of your country's adult population. That's a lot of growth in one fell swoop. Not very practical on any front.

Check out what is brewing.

Wah wah wah but they are good people.

Jesus answered: "No one is good--except God alone."
