Ariel - How much do I know Wesleys theology? Not a vast amount, yet I would call him
a brother.
You respect and call a brother a man who without blinking is happy to call Wesley a deceiver.
Now if you cannot see the sin and apostacy of this approach to spirituality and judging other
in the Lord, what is your foundation really on. It strikes me it is actually empathetic with a
group of people you get on with, and then you work from there. This is building an emotional
loyalty foundation while claiming you are merely talking facts and theology.
Often the very thing we deny we are doing, unless we are aware of how it operates and works
in our lives is actually the thing that operates within us.
I wonder if anyone within the "grace" camp, has not had a hyper legalist lifestyle for many years
and been pedantic over rules and obedience, and condemning sin, and being proud of self righteousness?
If one is converted out of this into the love of Christ, the obvious reaction is to then reject anything
similar to this background.
The problem with legalism is it is missing love, the love of the cross and Christ empowering it.
Now I could never have been a legalist because I was always too weak, and love was the issue I
wanted resolving not rules, or self grandeous puffing up. It was the hypocracy of grand standing
that I hated, and everything about appearance over reality.
So it appears this is rare in the "grace" camp, weakness driven by love, reality breaking forth into
darkness with a glorious light.
It also makes sense why I get seen as a legalist, because this is all you know as loves expression in
righteousness. I grew up in a society based on show, and it is false and brutal, and people die inside
when they need love and hope.
So I am an alien in a world of hurt and pain that has not been forgiven or purified.
Until we can forgive the churches or groups who we invested so much of our lives in, we have not
gone beyond them, but still are bound in some way to the errors they possess.
Every word, attitude and impulse will be tainted by the animosity we feel, and we can never see the
issues or gain the spiritual maturity we need to walk in the light with Christ.
How do I know this? Because so many believers who have had great experiences in Christ want to
send me to Hell because of their pasts not who I am or how I behave.
Until you can truly love me, as I am, you are not free. This may sound needy, but in truth, this is
where Christ is. He sees us as we are, and loves us, and desires we walk in His ways and His grace.
Paul said it like this
"Therefore I urge you to imitate me"
1 cor 4:16
Now Paul is so confident in his walk with Christ he is saying he is the example to follow
as he follows Christ.
"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."
1 cor 11:1
Now I know many who read this will rebel against these words. But in this feeling ask yourself
why are you rebelling? What teaching are you following that following the example of Paul is
wrong?
Who are you listening to? Gods word or the teaching of men?
