For clarification, I believe homosexuality is a sin- I just don't believe that ostracizing them is the way to lead them to Christ. And I believe dogmatically that sin is sin- God views all sin as repulsive. The homosexuals need to be loved into the church.
Yea, I am not speaking about bullying a sinner or belittling them. We are all sinners and need the Lord God to forgive is and wash us in His blood. No one is worthy, no not one. But we can't accept their sins is legitimate either, and they think we should, and think we should tell our kids homosexuality is normal. Which is a lie. I wouldn't tell my kids being a thief or liar was normal, and I am not going to tell them being a homosexual is normal either.

That's the point. We should never be seen as excepting their sins as normal.

Can a mature Christian be pro-gay marriage?

There are a number of individuals within the Church that categorize themselves as evangelicals who are promoting gay marriage.

Many of them are younger Christians, and they tend to be gay or bisexual themselves. However, some churches, as we know, support gay marriage and even gay leadership within the church.

My position is that this is one of the issues which sort out true Christians and organizations that God is working through from those that are not true Christians and organizations that he is not working through. It is going to become plainer and plainer which people and organizations belong to Him and which people and organizations are in rebellion against Him, despite their claims.
Homosexuality is a sin punishable by death in accordance to the Law of Moses. Whoever practices this sins, just as he who approves of it,

Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. (Romans 1:32 [ESV])

Amen!! A one has to do besides Reading Romans Chapter 1, is read what happned to
Sodom & Gomorrah in Genesis 19. It starts off where 2 Angels of the Lord are sent to destroy the entire place and all inhabitants. God told Abraham at the end of Genesis 18, he would spare Sodom & Gomorrah if he found 10 Righteous People inside..Then Lot had The Angels stay inside his house the night before they destroyed the Cities.
The Homosexuals were the ones wanting "To know Them" on the front steps. Lot offered his two Virgin daughters as replacement for "Knowing" The Holy Angels then The Angels blinded the Reprobates trying to get to them.
How could it be any clearer that God Hates Homosexuals and that lifestyle.

I am pro God, Pro Jesus, Pro HS and Pro Scripture. It is not what our opinions are, it is what scripture says. With that said, I am pro Love because God is Love; but at the same time I am pro Truth and God is truth.

Where does that leave us?

Yes RBA238, the laws of Moses and the Levitical laws state that homosexuality is a capital offense, punishable by death. But so was children sassing their parents, cheating on your spouse, being ceremonially unclean, withholding a tithe, etc. We can't just pick and choose which parts of the Law we want to uphold. I'm so glad Jesus fulfilled the Law because there is no way I (or you) could keep it. With all due respect, I'm bowing out of this discussion. I will gladly and joyfully continue reaching out to my gay friends and relatives with the love of Jesus- not condoning their sin but sharing His limitless grace.
Peace my friends.

hahahaah

say that with a strait face please they call themselves evangelicals and support gay marriage hmmm. ok "
"The Bible is the highest authority for what I believe." if this is the case as a Evangelical then they cannot support gay marriage why? because the bible doesn't ...... anywhere. Jesus did not anywhere. God doesn't anywhere . So if the bible will not, Jesus did not, and God cannot support gay marriage please tell me how one who claims to be a follower of Jesus can support gay marriage ?

I do not base my understanding on scripture alone, if I did I would justify slavery and ethnic cleansing among many other atrocities supported by scripture.

I am not impressed by sola scriptura, it is a ludicrous proclamation.[ I agree ...Exodus and Deuteronomy 21 condone slavery and the whole country decided against that.

so we try to Justify one wrong to justify another wrong ?

the context of slavery in Exodus and Deuteronomy were Produced by God they were the condition of sinful man. When we say we are n ot impressed by scripture alone , that is because we do not see the word of God as God meant it to be. God did not in the original design for man or women produced slavery sin did. and God did not produce gay marriage sin did.

[h=1]Genesis 2:18-25New King James Version (NKJV)[/h]18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Since Genesis is pretty clear about what a relationship is between a man and a woman , I don't see anything in the Bible that tells Men to marry men or women to marry women. I personally can't disobey scripture on this issue. As Christians we are to be a light to the world for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If we go along with sin then we are sending a signal to others that sin in ok with God. Stand for the truth in Christ and pray for those that reject it.

I have to say as much as I sympathise with the thoughts and feelings of a gay person, I have to say that God can't bless the marriage as He never intended same sex relationships when He created us. Yes, something has happened along the way that has attracted a man towards another man. I dont want to see any of them end up in hell. I know some good people who are gay and dont want any of them to end up in hell when they die. I'm annoyed Satan has messed up the gene pool somewhere along the line.

.8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.Romans 8: Life in the Spirit

and them that are in the flesh, take it up with the law makers of your land.

20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Romans 5: Peace with God Through Faith

when was a gentile given the law of moses (acts 15)

21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.Galatians 2

out of interest ,how can a guest start an opinion poll , yet can not read acts 15 , yet claims to see a christian belief system.

.4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.Galatians 5: Christ Has Set Us Free

if you read jesus teaching.

Matthew 7: Judging Others
1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.Matthew 7: Judging Others

who appointed you judge, when it clear wrote here.
42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."Acts 10

when did that say confess your sin to be forgiven , given acts 10 is about a gentile ,being saved by god.

side note, a gentile is someone that is not jewish, that would cover every religion on earth , that believe in a god etc

For God So Loved the World
16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God

There are two issues here in this thread:

One: What is right by God's criteria, and the Bible is clear that gay marriage is wrong. It is clear that confession is needed and is right.

&

Two: How we deal with it, in regards to people who are struggling with the lack of truth. And remember, if they attack you as a christian because you don't agree with them, thats ok, for you know the truth, and you will let God draw all men unto Himself in truth - setting them free, simply by loving them and following God in the moment as He leads. God will never call us to think lesser of them. Blessed are those who are persecuted for My name sake...we need to love people undyingly above ourselves in Christ; for we know we are loved as a sinner by grace into our new life.

“Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome. The last thing they need is for you to make matters worse by responding angrily. We as Christians don't need to fight the right and wrong fight, that's already been won in Christ. We need to reconcile people thru understanding their need to be reconciled to the Father (relationally), and let Him do the work thru us as He leads us to lay down our words and encouragements, and exhortations, and our discussions and discoveries alongside them. He'll then, have opportunity to draw them to Himself.”

that's the right way to respond to a Gay person that thinks what they are doing is right. Love them, but speak the truth in Love. Christ was an example of this. He told sinners about the Kingdom of God and their eyes opened to the truth. When they saw it, he said "go and sin no more". Its only Christ that can change lives, we just need to remember that and don't become judges. Be messengers of Christ and portray his love and forgiveness
