Until we turn to the Lord and believe what He has done in His finished work on the cross and resurrection - we will continue to replace Him for what we do or don't do - and the veil will remain over our minds because we are still living from the Old Covenant mindset that is a mere shadow of the real substance which is Christ Himself.
He is our true Sabbath rest in the New Covenant.( In saying that - people are free in Christ to observe a day how they choose. But when they say we must observe the Sabbath as in the Old Testament or Christians are sinning and dis-obeying God - these are Judaizers and Paul said that he didn't stand for this for even one hour "so that" the truth of the gospel will remain with them in Galatia. )
Hi Grace777
I do not have any problem with any of the scriptures you quoted just the statements afterwards. Maybe I do not understand why you posted them? From previous conversations with you however,
you believe that we think we are saved by the works of the law. Far from it my friend. In fact I do not know of one person here who thinks we are saved by what we can do or by the works of the law. I cant speak for everyone but I believe that we are saved by complete dependence and faith in a crucified and risen savior to save a sinner of whom I am chief and by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matt 4:4).
I think maybe where we differ is that I believe that Jesus is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes. That is Jesus saves us
from our sins by the power of His Word and also that if we profess to follow Jesus while practicing known sin we are not following him and are not saved and this is not a saving faith.
If God asks us to do something we must do it and follow him because he asks us to do it. Why? Because
we love him. You fail to see that Jesus himself says to us that the new covenant experience is that
If we love him we will keep His commandments(John 14:15). Not because we can obey Him because we cannot. We are sinners in need of salvation. But we have a savoir that can save us from our sins as we have complete faith and dependence in His Word's to do what they says they will do. It is God that works in us both to do and to will of His own good pleasure (Phil 2:13).
What is sin? It is
unbelief (Rom 14:23) and
disobedience to God's Law (Word) "
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." (1John 3:4).
God tells us to "Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy" (Ex 20:8-11).... It is the 7th Day of the creation week that God made for mankind as part of His finished work of creation. It is very clear from God's Word that the
7th Day Sabbath is a DAY that God made, Jesus is the creator and owner of this day which he calls the "Lord's Day" and this day was made for mankind (Gen 2:1-3; Mark 2:27-28). It is also one of God's 10 commandments (Ex 20:8-11) and if we knowingly trample upon it we disobey God and this unbelief leads to sin and the
wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23).
The message is come to us today "Fear God and give glory to Him because the hour of God's Judgement has come and worship Him that made the heavens and the earth and the sea and the fountains and the waters. (Rev 14:6-7)
God's people in the last generation are clearly defined in the Word of God. "Here is the patience of the saints, here are they that
keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus" (Rev 14:12).
"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isa 55:6-7)
God bless you and good night.
