True faith will have a corresponding action of some kind and it is not just giving mental assent and true faith originates from the heart of man and not the head.
Let's look at what James says about faith & it's corresponding "work" in relation to having eternal life now and forever because we heard the message of Christ and believed on Him - then we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Eph. 1:13
It is very interesting that in James's examples of faith "being made alive" by a work or a corresponding action. Both Rahab and Abraham each did a one time corresponding action to demonstrate their faith.
Abraham believed God and offered up Isaac on the alter. Rahab received the spies. Both one time events in their life - God calls this faith in action.
Now the strange thing is we believe the same, faith is shown through action, the action being
the fruit of the work of Christ in our heart.
So it is strange how though theologically we agree, some want to say we are enemies, evil,
salvation workers. I would suggest there is something different actually going on, which is
demonstrated by attitudes to the sermon on the mount, and abandoning any relation to law
or mark of righteousness.
It is this appearing to agree in one area but deny things in another.
If you cannot say what sin actually is and define a moral compass, how can one hold to
holiness, purity and righteousness.
You end up saying as preachers have done, if you find yourself sinning, see it is the
Father who sees you as righteous and saved, and do not feel condemnation.
This flaw in the line of belief is total. Either one is free to do anything or we are bound
as Paul says as slaves to righteousness, which is our heart.
It appears this concept is too difficult to admit to, because of the fear of legalistic overtones.
