Huh, a sin here, a sin there, a rebuke, a conviction, it sounds like a take it or leave it
approach.

This is James attitude to sin

Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
James 4:8-10

How is it a believer who claims they follow Christ can not be cut to the heart
over sin, it is lets discuss which type of conviction this is, or is it a rebuke, and
should we feel bad, or uplifted and touched by Gods love?

Is this an insane asylum?

We take sin seriously, just do it every day, day in day out, same mistakes, same
failures, but we really know Christ and His resurrection power!!!!

Yer sure thing....
I believe it's called ironing out the wrinkles.

Yeah...you assume that he agrees with you. I would like to know if he really does.

G777. Does the Holy spirit rebuke believers when they sin?

What happened to iron sharpening iron?
lol, this is funny. you were arguing convict, now your going to change to rebuke.

so context means nothing to you?

the discussion is not about rebuke, it is about convict, and no they do not mean the same in English

i would hope context does matter to you, I would pray your not going to judge a person because h takes a different interpreation of a word than you do.
I thought we were talking about the Bible and the concepts God is trying to convey and teach His children.

Didn't realise this was an English class.

It needs study for sure.

I firmly believe we need to know about Jewish life and ways. We are trying to understand with our own culture that we know.

So if the HS doesn't convict us, then what need is there for repentance of sins?

Wow,

never mind, it seems you have been hanging around Peter to long, you being just like him. and will do anything to prove you are right.

go ahead and continue to argue with grace about conviction of sin, I tried to show you it was a misunderstanding, but I guess that makes me evil.

You repent to get saved, not stay saved.

You want to repent of th same sin over and over go ahead,

oh wait, this is probably another one of this divisions based on interpretation of words.

Satan is trying to divide.

Here is what the scripture says about the flesh and "it's" desires and walking by the spirit.

The malice and deceitful mis-representing and accusations some people make - would in their own religion send them to hell for this type of behavior.

Thank God for the gospel of the grace of God in Christ's work.

Romans 6:11-12 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

[SUP]12 [/SUP] Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,

Galatians 5:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

The malice and deceitful mis-representing and accusations some people make - would in their own religion send them to hell for this type of behavior.

Yes some just can't understand what walk by the spirit and you won't carry out the desires of the flesh means.

We are GOD's workmanship created In CHRIST JESUS unto good works that was before ordained that we should walk In them.

Don't get snippy with me.. :/

I know why and how we repent. :) I believe that God does convict us, as in warns us, before we go and do something stupid. Then he convicts us afterward, as in "I warned you not to do that, and now you have the consequences".. Exactly the same way people warn us and then say, I told you so.. lol

No you are too easily offend because folks aren't talking to you and somehow that makes it where you feel the need to attack,

I have asked G777 ( thinking as you did) it was a misunderstanding but he told me I was wrong.

Therefore I would like HIM to clarify what he truly believes.

I apologize if you are not able to handle having a discussion where people disagree with you, without you feeling the need to bellitle and take offense.

I asked G777 which Greek word did he mean when he asked about the word convict.

Then proceeded to show that God does use that Greek word translated as either convict or reprove to show believers their sin.

HE HAS STATED THAT GOD DOESNT REPROVE/convict believers of their sins, only their righteousness in Christ.

I want to know if he agrees or if he denies THAT GOD DOES REPROVE/REBUKE BELIEVERS OF THEIR SINS.

We clearly know your thoughts on it.

EG thinks we're good enuff now to know when we sin..... funny thing is, when it comes to everything else, he adamantly declares we're not.

Sometimes people mis-interpret what is really being said and other times they deliberately mis-represent what is said too, so I will say this to hopefully stop both from occurring.

Here is what I do when I sin.

I love to kneel quickly and tell my Father how I trust in Him. How what I did was wrong.

Sometimes I use the word sin and sometimes I don't. I think that is irrelevant. I run to my Father and tell Him how that His Son is my Lord and is my life and my righteousness - that Jesus' Blood has secured my redemption and forgiveness of sins. I confess what God says about me. I tell Him I love Him and trust in Him.

I have not asked for forgiveness in order to be forgiven for quite some time now because I believe in what Christ has already done for me on the cross and resurrection....but I always talk with my Lord about what I do or don't do.

You know - He always loves on me and tells me He loves me and that He is my life and strength. Sometimes I have felt a warm liquid like feeling of pure love fall on me and I just sit there in His presence and weep. I can't move a muscle. He is so mighty in power yet His love and total acceptance is the most overwhelming aspect of His presence.

To me - all sin is relational. All sin is a failure to see the life of Christ in me. I am ignorant of His life in me. To me - most outward sin is just a "fruit" of the real sin.

For example - If I steal something - that is a sin but
the real sin behind that is the failure to recognize my Father will take care of me. I am operating in the flesh. I want to take things into my own hand and "do" things.

The other part is when you see how horrid it really is when we mess up....sin....transgress.... whatever term you want to use.

..what I see is my unbelief in the goodness and love of my Father and Lord Jesus for me. That is the horrid part because I know that is not Their character nor is it really my true nature now and what He has made me in Christ.
Amen!! I thank Him for His Grace and Mercy, I thank Him for what He did.

The forgiveness was already granted, I don't need, and I don't think He wants me to continually ask for something that He paid a REALLY high price to give!! "He's like alright already, I already did that move on OY Vey!!" (Just kidding).

But on a serious note, for me to continually go back and request something that has already been given seems too light, almost a denial of trust.

I trust in complete forgiveness now. God I trust you, and rely on you, and I thank you and I love you. Sorry just isn't enough !! I am sorry, but He already understands that.

I don't know, its really tough to put in words, but I know that my God truly loves me, and that He doesn't hold my sin against me, and that He wants to walk with me, and me with Him. Its so amazingly awesome, that if I trap myself in this sin, repent, obey, sin, repent, obey cycle, then I lose sight of who He is and what He has done for me, I condemn myself and drift away from Him. And I do NOT want that anymore.

Does that make ANY sense to anyone??
